so tomorrow at 7am you can reserve a rebate on energy-saving appliances. is anybody going to sign up for this?

currently, i have two sets of of working washers and dryers. i'm wondering if i should sell both sets and buy a new washer and dryer. the rebate will only work on the washer but i figured if i could get $100 for each set plus the $150-180 that would pay for most of the washer, and then i'm just out the remaining cost and whatever the dryer costs. fortunately i have the cash so it wouldn't have to be financed, but i'm wondering if the energy and water savings justify the costs considering i have not one but two working sets.

    suggestions?

Wow, I know I'll be going on a tangent although it's indirectly related to the topic. It made me sad going to that link and finding out about the rebate program. My aunt passed away a few months ago (in December) and she was looking forward to this program to get herself a new refrigerator. *sigh* I miss her.

Anyways, great program, I would take advantage for my home since it needs a new frig, but no money :(. Oh well.

Is this one of those appliances for cash incentive by the obama administration?

yeah, its getting hammered. One of these days when someone does something like this they'll actually have the capacity to handle it.

You are better off picking up sets on Black Friday where you can get both for the price of 1. I just submitted my online reservation to GA for my new Heat Pump. The system cost me $3,700, but I get a 30% tax credit, and a $199 Rebate.

I just put $500 worth of repairs into my 12-year-old air conditioner. I would have gotten an $800 rebate on an Energy Star replacement. Now I'm questioning the logic of my repairs.

I wish I lived in Texas. I get a $200 rebate for a system that qualifies for at least $1475 rebate in TX. Now wonder why their website is being flooded.

Edit: And with the tax credit of 30% you really should have replaced your system.
