I dont really understand being sad... I never let the way they played early this season change the way I thought they would, which is sort of what they are doing now.

I voted for Happy because even though we didn't make the playoffs, I think we got a lot of pieces for the future and we found out a lot of our rookies have nice potential. I know we made the playoffs last year and everything, but consider that we had at least Yao made it relatively easier than this season where we had absolutely no all stars.

    sad certainly.

Injuries is not excuse. Coach has been doing great.

should make the trade last year.

Sad. It's great and all that we will get a better pick in the draft but I live for this season and I want it to last as long as possible.

Big picture - I can't be upset, knowing that this was going to be a low ebb year. To turn around from a Yao-McGrady era with just one ~40 win season is pretty impressive. I'm very excited for the future of the team. The slow decline of the Dream era was tough. The Francis era was painful. The McGrady-Yao era was promising but ultimately frustrating.

Now, we go into next year with a terrific base. Should Morey load the cannon over the summer via trade or S&T, we could leap into the top quarter of the league with ease.

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/(Taylor)
    Ariza/Chase/Battier
    Scola/Hill/Jefferies
    (Yao)/Andersen/Hayes

...and that's without noting how many promising frontcourt players are in this draft.

This year was never meant to be. I'm pleased at how well the team played. Pleased at the emergence of Brooks and Scola. Pleased that we added Martin. Pleased with the additions of Chase, Hill, and Andersen. And if we weren't going to contend, I'm fine with having a lottery pick. Because of the weak East Coast playoff teams, that's immediately a difference of 5 positions.

    They traded. Somebody sabotaged it.

The only reason I hope someone would pick happy is that you still realize what your team accomplished with its current roster.

I was sad when Yao wouldn't return for this season. I was sad when we were statistically eliminated for the playoffs.

    Now, I just don't care.

But, missing the playoffs does offer some sort of silver lining.

Our players get to rest up, gel OFF the court, train casually, and scout other teams, that are in the playoffs (look at what plays they might run in certain situations, etc.)

Being in the playoffs would be awesome, don't get me wrong, but it isn't totally bad that we missed it...by THAT much.

The Rockets' reward would have been to play the Lakers in the first round. This time around, they wern't going to sneak up on them like they did last year because I feel the Lakers would know a lot better on how to play them with no Yao than last year's encounter.

There's clearly a fight among the bottom playoff teams to finish out of eighth to avoid the Lakers in the first round.

Sad, of course. Although, I must admit that I don't have the emotional energy or tolerance to have seen us snag the 8th seed only to get annihilated by the Lakers in the first round. Emotionally speaking, part of me is glad that wasn't the outcome. Now, we can add a lottery pick + Yao to our already strong and very promising core from this year. Things could be a whole hell of a lot worse. Plus, patience is a virtue.

You really cant complain with all the injuries we've been through, now if we had everybody healthy an we missed the playoffs then it would be a problem, cant wait til October

I think most of us are sad, because regardless of what we believed going in.. after our good start the Playoffs seemed possible.

I said at the beginning, I would be happy if we ended up at .500 or better... and that's still the case.

Next year however I will likely have much higher expectations.

In all honesty it makes me angry. I feel that there was definitely alot more that could have been done during this past offseason. It's embarassing in my opinion

I voted "don't care" but the correct phrase is "don't mind". This team is playing with a $16.4 million handicap and has been all year. Right now it's enough for me to see the potential for improvement once the playing field is leveled. I'm content.
