Agreed, it sucks big time! Damn, to me those features seem useless since my purpose of browsing through Youtube is to have some fun and watch the video, that'll do, simple and plain. Not April 1st anymore, appears to be the worst layout amongst the websites like this.
I like the uploader's other vids being accessible on the same page via drop down menu but I hate the comments section. But, I'll get used to it just like everyone else.
It's like Facebook changing their layout. People complain, and then people get used to it. So....get used to it
I'm one one those wackos that posts the occassional youtube comment (no youtube commenter is sane). The comments layout sucks too. They added some good features like Highest Rated Comment at the top (a nice Amazon.com type touch). When replying to someone it automatically puts "@nameofuser" so you can know what idiot's getting roasted now. But the layout isnt as clean to read. There isnt any indention to the comment being responded to (a "threaded" view). All comments linear, straight up and down redundant looking. No personality, no noticeable separation of comments. Yeah, looks a bit Google-fied.
I kinda like it. I'm doing the HTML5 evaluation right now though, I don't like how HTML5 doesn't have full screen.
It baffles me how hugely successful websites like YouTube can't design a user interface that is both uncluttered AND highly usable. As a web designer myself, I find their current layout is clumsy and cumbersome. The result of trying too hard to simplify, I think.
Agreed. It took me 5 minutes to put together a "quicklist" and 15 minutes to figure out how to play it.
the only problem i have with it are the comments layout. what a mess! u have the highest rated comments, which is pointless since ppl are just gonna rate them down, and then the author comments that i dont care about. then to read all comments u have to go the second page. geez
It's just like facebook. The site exploded into popularity, then they tried to improve it too much to the point now where it sucks. I can't wait for a site to challenge facebook and youtube for popularity. twit'er doesn't count cus it sucks balls and hulu isn't worldwide.
