There's been alot of talk about Phil Jackson being the MAIN reason behind the Lakers' huge success this season. even Shaq admitted that they wouldn't have done it without him. Is it really Phil? or does he just happen to land on the right spot at the right time? Almost everyone believes that it's Phil Jackson who brought the city of LA the title again. "Phil should start his own religion" i though that was kind of an idiotic statement by Bill Walton but it just shows how much Phil is appreciated. my question is, do you think the Rockets would be more successful if they had Phil Jackson as their coach? and would we have won more titles back in teh 90's had he been with us? personally....i think not! i never saw the guy as a terrific coach. he just seems to fall in the right position at the right time. ------------------ Dream's Team! If we had Phil Jackson as coach... 1. Everyone would say we'd win it in a few years. IMO Rudy would get us there quicker. 2. One of our players would be turned into the out of control bad boy just like Fox was during the playoffs. I never saw Fox create as much trouble in scuffles and stuff. I think it was planned to get people off their game. 3. We'd have to put up with stupid comments like "That one year's championship should have an asterisk placed by it because..." 4. And we'd all get sick of hearing about how our team doesn't and never will measure up to the Bulls championships or MJ. ------------------ He who stands for nothing will fall for anything.
I agree totally. Phil showed me during these playoffs that he's not as smart as people give him credit for. He's just great at putting himself in great postions. Nevertheless, it's not that hard to coach the best team in basketball. I would like to see him do the things that Bill Fitch did with the Rockets and Clipppers, and Lenny Wilkens did with the Cavs, and even Rudy T. Take on a struggling franchise and turn it into a winner. Oh, I almost forgot about Chuck Daly in New Jersey. These are TRUE excellent coaches IMHO. I wonder if Phil would have taken that US basketball team that Rudy took and almost won a gold with. Rudy turned a bunch of CBA type players into a team that Should've won the gold and he never flinched a muscle when the NBA players decided not to play. Phil would've IMO jumped ship along with the players. Rudy T definitely get's all props from me! ------------------
I totally agree with this one! ESPECIALLY when ur called THE HOUSTON ROCKETS! ------------------ Dream's Team!
If Rudy T. would have fallen in the same situation Jackson has then we would be talking how GREAT Rudy T is that I can almost guarantee !!!!! Jackson is one lucky F####R !!! ------------------ "Why can't we just get along"...quote from a scientist in Half-life 2nd edition.
Superficially, Rudy and Phil are very different. Their demeanor on court is entirely different. One is down to earth, one is arrogant. One says that his team has to fight to overcome hardship and adversity, the other says that his team has to go with the flow. Deep down in their basketball hearts they are very much alike. They are very concerned with defense. Team identity and chemistry are top priorities. They refuse to overcoach their players. They create a system that the players are allowed to learn, succeed and fail within. They both win championships. The biggest difference (and the reason that I would take Rudy any day over Phil) is that Phil is afraid of failure and cannot function without his type of players and the triangle offense. If Phil were in Houston, who knows what kind of roster changes he would have made. Steve Francis would be somewhere else because Phil probably thinks he's too short. ------------------
