A while back, while playing RE5, unaware of the consequences, I tilted the Xbox for a second or two, which led to a scratch in the disc that resembled a ring. Example: I took it over to Gamecrazy and had them try and buffer it out or whatever. Helped a bit, but there are still multiple chapters that I can't play. Any suggestions on what to do? Or am I screwed?
I wonder if you could sign up for gamesfly and then replace your disc with a rental disc? Maybe they are barcoded...How about a blockbuster?
I've had friends contact Microsoft and they replaced the disc. That's been awhile ago but wouldn't hurt to try. I just wouldn't tell them you tilted the game system though.
***Solution*** You can rent the game or borrow from a friend. Download the good copy to your hard drive and then you can play from your HD with the scratched disc in the XBOX. The XBOX will only check to see if the game matches when you play from the HD. it doesn't fix your disc but at least you can still play the game with about 7-8 bucks invested. It's better than shelling out cash to replace it. You're welcome.
All seem like legit ideas, thanks everyone! I'm gonna try yours first, RocketJoe. Seems pretty easy & LEGAL
Because it's clearly stated in the manual as a no-no. Afaik, this was one of the first things reported about the 360.
