First time to buy a bed. I don't really have sleep problems aside from occasionally getting Jimmy legs. I've been thinking about getting a memory foam mattress but Tempurpedic ones seem too expensive. I checked overstock though and they sell memory foam mattresses for much cheaper.

Anyone ever bought a bed online before? I know if I buy it from overstock, shipping is free today, but the memory foam mattress is non-returnable once its been unpackaged. I've tried out beds in person and checked out a Mattress Firm in Austin but the salesmen seemed too pushy.

Let's see, I live in Austin and just bought one from the mattress warehouse for a pretty good price.

What size of bed are you looking for and what price range?

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are great. They are pricey, but when you spend 1/3 of your life on it, it is worth it.

The one thing about buying a mattress is don't be afraid to spend the money. Like bobrek said, "you spend 1/3 of your life on it.

I bought a sleep number bed 2 years ago and love it. If you go too cheap you'll have to live with it for a while.

I'm looking for a queen sized bed. Price range around $1,000.

My gf got herself a California King Size bed with the frame, and box springs for around $800. Gotta say, it's pretty damn comfy. (she got sick of my Full Size mattress.)

They were having some big sale at some place in Tyler, TX. Don't remember the name.

You and your partner Jimmy should get a tempur - pedic mattress as bobrek suggested.

you could always buy a decent mattress and then an expensive memory foam mattress cover.

I got my bed from Ikea. Queen size Malm design. No complaints at all, and came in under 800 including mattress, pillows, sheets, blanket

The only way I would order a bed was if I had tried out the exact make and model. Even then, there are differences. I would suggest that you shop local. As far as memory foam mattress, I find them comfortable except they are hot.

I bought my fullsize for 600+tax, Simmon's Bardwell Classic Plush and it pretty much erased the back problems from my old mattress. I also noticed I was actually sleeping less (from ~10 hours to the normal 7-8 hours) which makes me thing my REM cycles were not being disturbed.

Of course this will vary from person to person but I've been very happy so far. That price is of course not counting frame or box spring since I already had some.

I suggest not buying one online unless you've tried the exact same one in a store first.

I bought a Tempurpedic a few months ago and it was some of the best money I ever spent. I got the cheapest model, which for a King was I think about $2k.

Before that I had several pillow tops that cost as much or more than that, and they were awful. Spend the money and get a Tempurpedic is my advice.

My wife bought a temperpedic for some ungodly sum. I could sleep on a concrete floor -- so I don't notice any difference -- but she says it's the best money she ever spent!

And she's less grumpy in the morning.
