how is it so far fetched that a celebrity could have a genuine addiction to their endless supply of sex? it makes perfect sense to me that a tiger woods, excelling in everything he has ever tried, would push the boundaries with women as well, and being surrounded by beautiful, willing partners, have his 'control' of that desire slip away. it's just like if you were addicted to (name a drug), and you were surrounded by drug dealers who constantly just wanted to give you a free hit. i am not saying tiger's addiction is genuine, just that the shoe fits. many of you here sound like you have never known anyone in your real lives with an addiction. is hoarding a real addiction?
Maybe everyone says they are "addicted" in a colloquial sense, but the important part of definition is the part that says "causes significant disruption and negatively impacts the quality of life." Think of it like an addiction to drugs. People who are addicted to drugs will neglect other aspects of their life for drugs, and their addiction causes a detriment to their overall well-being and quality of life.
I'd think sex addicts would know enough that they are one before getting married or finding a spouse that wouldn't approve of it.
Sex addiction is real, but that does not justify cheating because you still have two options to avoid cheating: 1) don't get married/get a divorce, 2) overcome the addiction.
OP, how do you know that having sex with as many different partners as possible is the best evolutionary strategy for men to pass on their genes? With downsides such as STDs (including fatal ones), not being able to care for or raise all of your kids, and retribution from other males for encroaching on their territory, what makes you so sure that it IS natural for human males to have sex with as many women as possible and that it is encoded in our DNA? Also, there is a lot of space between reproducing only with 1 other and reproducing with as many different women as possible.
Sex offenders, especially rapists, tend to make me believe the addiction is real. Unless you're grotesquely ugly or a fat ass, its not that hard to find women willing and ready. Especially in a big city where you can use the Internet. Methamphetamines, and to a much lesser extent, amphetamines, definitely cause hyper sexual tendencies.
Can someone please tell me what the point of marriage is anyway? Tax deductions are lower insurance rates are the only incentives I see to ever get married. Some of this tradition stuff is BS.
Pretty surprised at the results, didn't think that many people would think it's real. Personally I don't think it's real. Every single guy I know (including myself) would have sex everyday with multiple partners if they had the opportunity to do it. Guys like Tiger and the other celebs are just doing what most guys would do if they were in their position. I'm not condoning cheating on your wife, but every guy wants to have sex and have a lot of it. Saying you're addicted to it is just an excuse IMO.
Do you want your son or daughter living with another man in their life or home? If you don't want other men encroaching on your territory (and from the other perspective, other women encroaching on your man and the things your man give you), then a promise to be faithful to a limited number of partners is one way to avoid that undesirable scenario.
I think it's probably real, but it's a lame reason to use for cheating. Just hump the person you're with or yourself instead of everybody.
It is nothing but a social convention to keep families together. There is no special event that magically happens. Also, from a practical stand point I would STRONGLY suggest males not marry unless absolutely necessary. You will lose have your stuff and have to go through legal proceedings.
