I think Kate is going to be key in all of this. She hasn't touched Flocke's hand yet as and is still protected by Jacob's touch. The island isn't done with her and she is in Flocke's camp where she can cause some of the other originals to come to Jack's side. Smokey knows he can't do anything with Kate right now, and that she doesn't trust him. It's all about the good touch/ bad touch.
i think Matthew Fox has been flat this season as Jack... Kate would be next for me. seeing either one of their characters die would do nothing for me right now... the way I see it now, Jack would be Jacob's replacement and Hurley can serve as an advisor a la Richard... I don't have a guess how Aaron, Kate , Claire, or that mysterious blond boy tie in...
Technically, since we've verified she isn't a candidate, Smokey could slam her into some trees if he wanted. Last night he tipped off Claire that he wants to dangle her tight t-shirt in front of Jack to try and get him into Camp. Probably going to offer Hurley an Apollo Bar or something. One random thing about Kate that they haven't cleared up is her apparent infertility. She seems to know about it, too - it's come up a few times in a subtle manner. Plays into why she was all about raising Aaron as "her son" At least, that would be more interesting to me than watch her waffle more as Jack and Sawyer play "puff puff pass" with her vagina.
Yes, initially Jack was supposed to be played by Michael Keaton, but when they determined that he would not be killed off Keaton backed out of the role because he didn't want to do a full tv series. I think they were right by not killing off Jack because he really did carry the show at the beginning.
Do we have confirmation of this? I know we didn't see her name either crossed out or not on the candidates ceiling. We also don't know that you need to be touched to be a candidate. Locke never took Smokey's hand from what I remember, and he was able to die. Or was he? Maybe that's the loophole? FLocke really wanted her to touch his hand if you go back and look at that scene from a couple of episodes ago.
Lostpedia had her name listed as screenshot with a cross out a couple weeks back. Smokey explicitly stated last night that Claire and Kate were not candidates/crossed out. The rules are, Smokey isn't allowed to kill Jacob or Jacob candidates himself, directly. Ben killing Locke and Jacob is fair game, however. The ramifications of taking Smokey's hand are still conjecture right now. He's taken the hand of Sawyer, Claire, and (we assume) Sayid. I can't remember if he and Ben ever shook last season. Kate, Richard, Jin, and Sun have openly rejected his hand. Jacob's touch passed along a gift, it didn't "make" anyone a candidate (Richard) nor did it make them unkillable (Locke). How candidates came to be, I dunno. But Sayid's name apparently hasn't been crossed out, so Smokey shaking with you/infecting you doesn't cancel out your candidacy. What does it do? Don't know. But I'm pretty sure it seals it that you aren't going to be alive at the show's conclusion.
So here's a question. When Claire asked if Kate was on the list, Flocke replied, "Not anymore". What do y'all think that means? Was she a Shepard while off the island for a time? I didn't think her and Jack were ever married.
Oh! Just had a thought. Remember how, when they had to get all the Oceanic 6 back to the island, they had to get "all six" but they couldn't get Aaron, and they basically said that's good enough? If Flocke is Aaron, maybe that's 6 out of 6.
Just caught the show . . . . Spoiler Question: Do you think the fact that Sun was using her maiden name is a hint? That maybe Jin is the KWON they talking about as a candidate and not Sun? I mean . .makes sense that id the name is there . . .and they have been watched their whole life. .. well Sun has not be a KWON her whole life. . . only Jin has been. . . .so he is the Candidate of the two. This is from a couple episodes back, but when they (locke and Sawyer) looked at the names in the caves (sawyer, hurley, kwon, jack, etc), were the numbers next to the names not crossed off the number from earlier in the season, 4 8 15 16 23 42 (i believe)?
