I am sorry, but I have a real problem with Lewis and the way he is acting in Seattle.

Here is a guy who cried like a baby on draft night...who missed out on being picked in the first round...who then got given a chance by Seattle.

They have spent a lot of time developing him and now offfered him 60 Million $.

    60 M$.

He is not an all star.
He is not a franchise player.
He is not the best player on the team.
He wasn't even a first round pick.
They have developed him and offered him 60M freaking $...and he is still whinging like the kid who missed out on draft night.

This is a guy who is a HUGE risk of being one of those "got my money and now I don't care" players that ruin franchises.

The NBA is littered with guys on massive deals who gave up caring the moment they signed their massive deal. We already have one on this team. We don't need two.

damn right, rockets shouldnt sign a cry baby. Rox dont need a player like lewis. NOw rox have enough good players. The Sonic should deal Lewis to Dallas or sumthing. Don't get stuck with player like Lewis. There are alot of young players out there to be develop. Sonic don't have to beg like a dawg for Lewis. :p

Lewis is whining in Seattle because they said they would give him a fat contract the next time around, and they aren't offering one.

I'd be pissed too if I was getting paid $500,000 more than a guy who avg. 5ppg and 4rpg, ya it seems like a lot of money to us, but it's the principle about it.

I got to see a lot of the Sonics this year, and I think that for what Lewis did for the team, 60 million is more than fair. He can't create his own shot. He needs guys like Gary Payton and Brent Barry to do that for him.

Lewis is a shooter, plain and simple. If the Sonics lose him, then that's just too bad. Better to be a crappy team for a few years than to overpay someone like Lewis.

The Rockets don't need him. They already have a solid supply of shooters. I'd rather the Rockets re-sign Walt Williams.

    Say what?

60 mil is enough money to buy every poster on this board a new house )

RL wants to be paid on his "potential" and the Rockets already played that game with Cato, and got burned.

    Let him walk.

I personally think it would be great if the Rockets officially said they have no interest in RL, in order to take some of his bargaining leverage with Seattle away )

That would be sweet. I dont want Lewis either, and cant believe he is dumb and selfish enough to decline a $60,000,000 offer!

IMHO, even at the end of his contract, when he will be 28 or so, he won't be worth the max.

Don't forget: NBA players may make a lot, but they also spend a lot.

If we do anything with Lewis, we do a three way trade where

    Mo goes to Seattle
    R.Lewis goes to the Clipps
    Odom comes to Houston

Odom can play all positions except 5

The Clipps might not want to give Odom the a fat contract because of the drug problems. Also, they need a shooter, because everyone on that team drives and having A. Miller will help distribute the ball.

I just think Rashard is a better fit with the Clipps and Odom(healthy) is a better fit with us.

    It's that simple.

$60 mil is nothing to a professional athlete, ya it's a hell of a lot of money to us, but when you know you can get more money than what they are offering, why not do it. Seattle will pay him more than $60 mil., not doubt about it.

We got burned in the Cato situation, I'll give you that. But Lewis is not potential anymore, he is a 16 & 7 guy and there is not much that can stop him from getting better.

    Lewis=16ppg & 7rpg
    James=5ppg & 4rpg

Seattle is offering $500,000 more than James, so your telling me that $500,000 is the difference between a Steve Francis and a Tierre Brown. Why not spend the money.

Everyone keeps bringing this up, but it's ridiculous logic for a player to use if they ever want to play on a winning team:

"John's piece of the pie is 1/3 of the pie so I want half of the pie cuz I'm taller than him!"

Manager: "Ok, so that leaves 1/6 of the pie for everyone else. You're sure you're ok with that?"

Player: "Yes. I dont' mind not being able to afford food 3/4 of the year, I just want mine now!"
