Yao Ming Chris Bosh Trevor Ariza Kevin Martin Aaron Brooks ... scary. We'd have to give up Battier (expiring, good defender), S&T Scola (Bosh replacement), and probably some draft picks (we have a lot of 'em), but man... scaaaaary. Then have Hill, Budinger, Taylor, Andersen, and Lowry off the bench. Scaaaaaaary.
That bench sounds a little weak to me. But maybe we'd be able to sign some solid veterans to fill out the roster.
So we would have to move AB to the bench to be our 6th man and trade lowry for a pass first point guard. I still like the lineup of: Yao Scola Ariza Martin Brooks With lowry, budinger, battier, hill, and ??? off the bench.
Something has been brewing since the final playoff loss to the Lakers last season. What's to say we don't trade Yao for Chris Bosh if he ends up opting out as well.
If we do acquire Bosh this offseason, starting lowry would make a ton of sense. Let him distribute and defend the starting pg, attack the basket, and run the offense. Brooks would be a PERFECT scorer off the bench, quick, change of pace, he could run it up and down with Bundinger and Hill. That would be ideal. Chris Bosh come to Houston!!
I really don't get this argument. Kyle IS our "change of pace back". He brings the energy and fastbreak to the offense off the bench. I mean if he were a Rajon Rondo that racked up the assists but not so much points I'd understand but he really barrels his way into the lane and collects fouls every second he's on the court. AB would be better suited as a distributor/scorer as the spacing on the floor would more than likely be emense. They'd have to guard the 3 with AB, Martin, and sometimes Ariza, down low with Yao AND Bosh with the mid range jumper also being an option for both those players. I love Lowry but if he was supposed to be the starter on this team he'd already have the position over AB.
cant package a s&t player with other players in a deal so if the rockets do make a play for bosh it wouldnt include scola or lowry meaning it most likely will include Battier, Hill OR AB, Chase, knicks pick? thats the problem unless Morey somehow hoodwinks the Raptors into also taking Jeffries expiring I dont see how they can land Bosh without giving up too much talent in return so it could be AB?/Lowry/2010 draft pick?/Llull? Martin/Taylor Ariza/Taylor/2010 pick? Bosh/Scola Yao/Hill?/Andersen/2010 pick? question marks for iffy spots since pieces could be traded or dont know how the rockets may pick/be able to bring over i think its still a long shot for the rockets to get Bosh even if no changes are made to the roster I still think that this team can be good next year with health AB/Lowry Martin/Chase/Taylor Ariza/Battier Scola/Hill/Jeffries Yao/Andersen/Jeffries then place the 2010 pick somewhere as a 4/5 big man who can back up Yao and i think thats a much more balanced team with a good starting 5 and bench with defined roles
I started a similar thread before the trade deadline which basically had Andre Iguodala hitting a game winner for the Rockets. An interesting typo to be sure, but we see how that worked out. Miss ya, Landry! /tear
We'd be contenders with bosh and he's looking to win so he should come here. We may not have enough money for what he's looking for though..
