I recall Adrian Woj's article on Pritchard quoted that "certain Western Conference GM" a few times. Wonder who that could be.

It definitely isn't. Why would Morey envy Pritchard's job? He has the same job, is better at it, and is widely recognized as a leader in a paradigm of talent evaluation that is sweeping through the entire NBA.

its like mark warkstein or something

could be him he has been a good GM for denver and read he was a bit upset that he hasnt been extended yet himself.

portland is an attractive place, good/great fanbase, one star in roy, one great secondary star in aldridge and several young pieces as well as an owner who is willing to spend to improve the team.

thats the best position to be as a GM

Thanks for the info, guys. Interesting. I don't know who is right or wrong in the whole Pritch (+ apparently the local paper guys) vs. Vulcans/Warkentien (+ Wojo from Yahoo) deal, but it can't be good for that team. Not that it'll cause Brandon Roy to miss shots or anything, but long term, this ain't good for a team.

Mark Warkentien used to be in the Portland front office for quite a while. He was actually ahead of the Pritchard in the ranks before KP rose up to GM status.

He didn't like working under Pritchard's previous bosses John Nash and Steve Patterson, and bolted, only to find Paul Allen give Pritchard the reins of the operation before Warkentien even had a chance at it.

Ever since then, he has been Wojnarowski's mouth piece smearing Pritchard and the Blazers.
