Although I agree with you on Ariza's defense where he can gamble too much on defense, Battier's defense has steadily declined and with age and injuries it's only going to get worse. All those top players you mentioned are in or are about to enter the primes of their careers. No one, not even Battier, can do much to slow them down individually. Plus, Battier is such a non-factor on offense it almost doesn't matter if the player he's guarding has an off-night because he contributes very little on the other end. There were many times this season where it was 2-on-5 or 3-on-5 offenses against opposing teams because Hayes, Battier and even Ariza couldn't shoot or didn't want to shoot, so the opposing defenses would swarm Brooks and Scolandry and limit their effectiveness on offense.
JJ Redick? A free agent who will fly under the radar, anytime he has gotten big minutes he has shown he can play, and he can do more than just shoot, he has extremely high IQ in hoops so you can count on him to make the right pass, hustle, and he got coached by a van gundy so he had to ride the bench until he played defense the right way so he is serviceable in that regard. http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=300328019 check out his stats tonight, and in playoffs last night, when he as the right system and team he can really be a stellar complimentary player and we could get him for cheap
What does he do infinitely better than the guards we have on our team right now? If you want to compare complexion to complexion, what can JJ do better than Chase that warrants a roster spot (or even a contract)?
i prefer redick over buddinger, reddick is a pure shooter has more experience can actually now drive to the basket and shoots the 3 better than bud, if i am morey would trade bud for reddick
Hell yeah! lol him and Chase could be the deadliest White American duo in the NBA...Plus he is a shooter which will fit in amazing with YAO
i dont know about that. Maybe once in a while, but he has to try really really hard to do more than just set up and shoot. I rather have someone who's able to do it more naturally and it comes to them more easily. He does shoot better than Bud and can get on a hot streak longer and higher than him, but Bud can play the 3 and sometimes the 2. Reddick is pretty much stuck as a short 2. He could be a nice back up for Martin if JT doesnt work out, but only if he comes very cheap.
We already have the injured reserve spots full with Battier, Yao, and Martin. JJ has never played a full season.
reddick > chase, but chase is cheaper and already under contract. I would love to have reddick though shooting wide open 3s all day either when teams double yao or collapse on a driving martin or lowry.
Reddick is in his 4th year, while Chase is in 1st year. He's only marginally better than Chase. At JJ's slow rate of development, Chase will overtake him in 3 months during the off season. Budinger has played more games this season, than Reddick played by the all-star break of his 2nd season. Reddick breaks a nail and sits out 10 games.
