I would rather have Billy Clyde but Timmy isn't a bad choice either. Both can recruit and flat out coach. I don't care if they stay only 1 year but this program needs a major jolt. Huggy Bear stayed at K-State for only 1 year and look at the Wildcats now. It only takes one year for a program to be re-energized.

Kinda off subject but I don't understand how Houston people (in general, not necessarily on this site) with no affiliation to the school actually want UH basketball to do good, but if Sumlin were to up and leave tomorrow, there would be all kinds of "LOLOLOLL UHH SUCKZZZZZ" comments.

There are a lot of people in Houston that grew up watching Phi Slamma Jamma. There are a lot of people in Houston that have relatives that went to UH. It really is not that hard to understand.

I have no affiliation with UH (outside of my dad working there) but I still root for them because they're from houston. If Rice was doing well I'd root for them too. Houston pride man.

Football had glory days too, but people outside of UH seem to not care about that as much. I dunno.

Maybe it's because guys like Olajuwon and Drexler carried over well to the pros and guys like Ware and Klingler didn't.

The real problem is that people inside of UH don't seem to care that much. 37,000 students and many more former students living in Houston and they can't sell out games. :(

Houston suffers from Miami syndrome, and vice versa.

There's a million reasons for their problems.

    I'd be all ears.

I'm a little green on the subject.

This admissions cycle has been brutal, applications are up at most places anywhere between 20-40%... so I might have to reapply next year.

Hope UH gets Gillespie and glad A&M (even though I'm a UT grad) is keeping Turdgeon.

I think BCG ends up at UH, Tim Floyd at UTEP, and Reggie Theus at UCF. CUSA Basketball has gotten better over the last few years with Marshall, UTEP, and Tulsa improving. Memphis is going be dominant once again with the recruting class Josh Pastner's bringing in.

How would BCG fair in recruiting now a days?

I think it is good step for UH. Hopefully we can get some studs back to Hoffeinz.

He couldn't be any worse than Penders. Penders got some okay juco players like Coleman and McKiver. His best HS player he signed was probably Kendrick Washington who will be a Soph. next year. If all the players come back next year, you have some decent players coming back like McNeil, Washington, Nixon, and Wade. Penders also signed 7'3'' center Marial Dahl from Uganda via junior college. But I don't know if he ever makes it to campus with the coaching change. They also had a verbal from Devon Lamb who was the nation's leading junior college scorer. But I don't know if would fit with the new coach's plans.

The thing Penders never did was recruit local kids. He couldn't even get Joseph Young who is the son of UH legend Michael Young. He ended signing with Providence. His teammate on Yates was Brandon Peters who is stud and ended up signing with Western Kentucky. L.J. Rose is a stud point guard at Second Baptist who is a top 5 player in the nation for the class of 2012. His father Lynden and uncle Cecile both played for the Coogs in the 80's. Lyden is a member of UH System Board of Regents and involved heavily with UH sports. Little chance he ends up at UH since he already gots offers from all the big programs like Arizona, Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, etc. If the Coogs do hire John Lucas, you have a decent shot at him cause LJ worksout with Lucas in the offseason.
