A team that wants to be in playoffs this year. They could use a veteran PG (according to Chad Ford) or another big man. The Rockets could use a backup swing man that can play the 2 or 3 like Dermarr Johnson. Maybe easier to acquire than Rashard and is younger. I wonder if Willis would return to Hawks in S/T.
Okay, so you're saying the Hawks would take a creaky, 100-year-old, hotheaded old man nicknamed the "black hole" and give up a young, talented, athletic swingman just scratching the surface of his potential. Playoffs or no playoffs, the Hawks would have to be horribly high just to consider doing that S&T. edit: am i missing out on something? is there a reason this trade might help the hawks? other than just this year?
You guys really trip me out sometimes. Maybe after you get Damarr for Willis you can trade Mo Taylor for Kobe. I heard the Lakers really need a PF, and Kobe would be an excellent backup for Cat.
Not a bad idea. I'd go out on a limb and say Kobe would be 6th man of the year with that lineup. I know, that does sound a little crazy. As for as Dermarr, I don't know much about him. If he is a good 2, I would consider giving up some of our guys you others have mentioned. However, I don't think Willis alone would do it.
nazr and ratliff should be able to hold down center...the rest of the team is gold. reef is a very solid PF, g-rob should be a consistant threat at SF, dermarr should play sg and i think terry should play pg for them to have a solid starting roster...or play whoever their other pg possibility is and have dermarr come in in relief of terry or g-rob at the 2 or 3.
DerMarr Johnson is one of those potential players...he has a lot of it, but hasn't had the chance to really show it yet. Atlanta really doesn't have a need for him right now, especially if they play Terry along with Glover at shooting guard. He's probably the type of player the Rockets should be looking for at backup shooting guard, though he would likely eventually leave and try to make it elsewhere as a starter. That said - I doubt the Hawks would deal him. He could command more than a sign and trade for Kevin Willis, a player they don't need with Abdur-Rahim, Ratliff, and Mohammed in the frontcourt, and the Hawks would probably want a first round pick or two for him.
If the laker's got him, I bet they would make the playoffs. Well, Willis could help out a team in the East make it. With not many centers there, he could possibly make a small impact. That said, I doubt he could hold up all season, especially if he was playing every game.
If they're looking for a veteran PG, I'd give them Moochie for Johnson. I'm pretty comfortable with Tierre and Tito splitting the back up PG duties. Weren't the Rockets pretty high on Johnson when he came out?
Dermarr Johnson for willis. I dont think the Hawks want to trade their young star for and old player. This trade is impossible!!! =P
Obviously the Hawks wouldnt do willis straight up for Dermarr. But, Willis and Moochie for Dermarr isnt that far fetched. I would be willing to do that trade.
The Hawks really have no need for either Moochie or Willis. They already have a promising backup PG (Dickau) and a veteran one (Email). Willis also is not needed. Dermarr, however, is very available - they do not really see him as a "future star." They mostly see him as a big non-effort-giving softie.
Chad Ford disagrees. He says they need a veteran PG and a big man. Willis may be old, but the centers in the East arent any better than him. As of now, Moochie is a lot better than either Email or dickau.
Isn't he also the one who thinks that they are still looking for a starting PG? Why would they possibly need four PG's under contract? Willis may be old, but the centers in the East arent any better than him. Ratliff and Mohammed are both better...they both also play for the Hawks.
If I remember correctly, he predicted Caron Butler would go #10 and he gives some respect to Houston, which I think we deserve. (EX: Houston could be a good team in the future.) It is a bit strange to have 4 pg's though.
Speaking of a backup 2, Corey Hightower looked really good in Summer League for the Magic. I wonder if the Magic signed him.
No, they didn't. With about 400 small forwards on the roster, there was no room for either him or Jamel Thomas (who quickly bolted to the Knicks' summer squad; like they need another SF). Hightower's not a backup shooting guard, though; he's a backup small forward. He can play a little point forward, though those skills aren't fully developed yet. Needs the ball in his hands to be effective, at least on the offensive end. Fairly tall (6-9) and lanky (210, I think), but not quick enough to stick defensively with the two guards of the league. If the Rockets were looking for another backup small forward, he'd be great; he even comes with the Jerry West stamp of approval. But I doubt they're looking for yet another young small forward.
