When people upload videos of people torturing and killing people, I just don't know at what point, some people became infatuated with watching that stuff. I was just reading an article that was about Daniel Pearl, because I had to refresh my memory on who exactly was he, and it mentioned that he was captured and killed overseas, and his death was recorded, and uploaded to the internet. I haven't watched it, and I won't, but just the thought of watching someone else in the process of dying is very disturbing. This is the stuff you see in movies And there are more cases of this very thing happening all over the country. I guess the fact that people can be so sick and twisted is just reality we are forced to deal with
You know there are websites that are solely dedicated to these sick videos right? I forgot the name of it, but I remember coming across it one day. (Someone will post the name of the site) It didn't surprise me as much because I've seen some Faces of Death videos when I was younger.
Ogrish and all those "raw news" sites used to fascinate me. Now it kinda turns my stomach since the sheer awe has worn off. I think it is important that people see these things, however, it tends to put things into perspective. Going through life thinking this is a Disney movie is not an emotionally healthy way to live.
i heard the Pearl beheading was pretty nasty, i.e. a small knife was used and you could see him squirm and fight for a while while they began cutting. Gives me the willies just thinking about it.
Haven't watched it either, and won't. But the question in your thread title remains unanswered. The short answer is, there seems to be an increasing number of people walking the earth who do not seem to qualify to be called 'human beings'. They are just animals. Vicious dangerous animals who are beyond repair, and should only be put down, and be made to stop breathing. But the question I have for you is, are you more disturbed by the act itself, or by the fact that people watch things like this? Morbid curiosity is a part of human nature, that is why there is always a rubber-neck slow-down on the freeway whenever there has been an accident.
I'm with Donny on this one. If you can't walk to the edge then you won't know what it feels like. Curiosity via watching a video is one thing and killing a human is another.
People like those who killed daniel pearl post that video for this reason, it scares the **** ot of people
This is the answer. Also, I can watch the "both females and a drinking utensil" video and not gag, while others can't stomach it. I can stand some of those things, but some people can't. It's different seeing it LIVE and seeing it recorded. I can't stand seeing someone doing something wrong to someone else and not being able to do anything about it; if you like HURTING people, well, that's just not human; if you like watching people HURTING another person, well, that's different. Since we know the ideals and reasons behind the Pearl incident, we can see it and reason in our brains what happened before and after that, and who are the ones doing it... when nothing's known, it is not as sad. There's no idea behind it. What about those videos of injuries like the Shaun Livingston or the weight lifters in the olympics? What's up with watching those?
I would never watch an innocent being murdered like Daniel Pearl was if I can help it. However, that jerkoff Khalid Sheik Mohammed (who killed Daniel Pearl and orchestrated 9/11)...I would gladly watch someone cut his head off and do whatever else to him. I wanna see that guy die. OBL comes out today talking about if we kill him...they will kill our prisoners. Are you freaking kidding me? They are the ones killing our prisoners and innocents. Yet, they think this threat means something in their already perverted world? I don't think letting him live is an option. Al Qaeda pretty much kills everyone they take hostage anyway...so if someone can tell me wth OBL is talking about...? Unbelievable. They've killed our soldiers they have taken prisoner. They killed innocents they have taken prisoner. Just what is OBL talking about??? Whacko!
I go to this site THEYNC.com That site is definetely not safe for work or those with a weak stomach. It has nudity here and there as well. So click at your own risk. I found this site a good while back because i was lookin for faces of death videos. No im not a sicko or anything. Ive seen some of the craziest things on there. They might even have the Daniel Pearl video. I've never seen it but wouldnt surprise me if it was on that site.
True Enough. Getting to the point where watching a beheading has the same relevence as too much mustard on your Subway Sandwich . . is not healthy either Rocket River
I think it puts a healthy dose of fear into people. Life has consequences. Reality ain't nothing to f*** with. Etc. But yeah, you don't want people thinking that getting your noggin' lopped off is no big deal, either.
We're isolated from death in today's world. People tend to die in hospitals instead of homes or in car crashes away from friends and family. That makes us less aware and as get fewer exposures to death, we seem to become more afraid of it. It's one reason I think we should keep the tradition of pulling off when a funeral procession drives by. You're never expecting to encounter it (sort of like death itself) and it makes you stop and think for a moment. Instead, it seems these days we mostly just whiz by without a second thought and the world becomes even more unaware to the point where we have to look at grisly videos to shock our system and remind ourselves that death is indeed part of life.
I don't think this is any different than it's ever been. Romans loved watching people getting tore up by lions. That "Faces of Death" series was popular 3 decades ago. Lynchings and public beheadings were popular for centuries. Most people slow down at wrecks probably to see carnage. I think, generally speaking, humans are pretty sick and twisted. lol. Now, we just have the Internet to distribute these scenes rather quickly.
Funny how I was driving by 59 S one evening going to the Fountains and there was a car on the shoulder covered in flames. And I mean flames several meters high and I was the only car that slowed down to take a see. Nobody else seemed to care. Maybe it was just my first time ever seeing a car on flames live... I really thought someone could've been in that car and was thinking why isn't anyone doing anything?
<br> This. I really think it's interesting that people think this is something new. In reality, far worse stuff has been going on for centuries. This world has been full of barbarianism and meaningless killing since the dawn of time. I mean, there was Nero, Huns, the entire Middle Ages, French Revolution, Armenian genocide, Hitler, Stalin, etc... Does it really surprise anyone that people do these types of things?
And there is the answer: it's very easy to find justification to dehumanize a person and reduce them to a piece of meat that can be butchered. I'm not saying I'm any better: just that humans throughout history have found reasons (some of which can be argued as valid and some which are just plain silly) to not only kill, but delight in killing. Public beheadings were really popular back in 1793. Even crucifixion (not just THE crucifixion) was a public spectacle to be enjoyed by the masses. When it comes to humans... They are who we thought they were.
