Really strange, I was just talking to a co-worker last Friday about that band, it was his first concert ever. Had no idea they were still around. New material? I just don't think " living in oblivion" is gonna cut it without something new
Actually they will be playing all of their classic hits along with so new stuff. Come out for a night of great music and fun! It should be a memorable night!
4 posts in 8 years? Are you part of the band or something? Lets see my memories of Numbers: The last time I went to Numbers was for a Midlake concert. The band threatened to leave mid show and never come back to Houston because folks were talking too loudly in the middle of their songs. The previous time I went there was for a Tapes N Tapes concert in which my car got towed as I parked on an nearby street. It was around midnight. The time before that was for a Battles concert in which half the people got in for free because they were handing out free tickets before the show. The time before that I saw Death Cab for Cutie and the venue seemed to purposely shut off the AC and fans inside. Some kid passed out in the middle of the show and Ben Gibbard stopped the show to toss bottles of water to the crowd. I heard Interpol played once back in 2001 or so. I was still learning to walk back then. So didn't attend.
Let's see...some of the best shows I've seen at #s are: The Butthole Surfers/Flaming Lips/Ed Hall Love and Rockets/Jane's Addiction Sonic Youth The Cure Chris & Cosey Front 242 Ministry Front Line Assembly GWAR Severed Heads Galaxie 500 SWANS Sugar Cubes The Cult Skinny Puppy The Jesus and Mary Chain Skatenigs Thrill Kill Kult PiL KMFDM Nine Inch Nails MC 900 Ft. Jesus The Cramps Crust Pain Teens Meat Beat Manifesto/Consolidated Sprawl Anything Box? I can't actually say that I would list them on par with any of the above-mentioned bands. (Yes...this is a pissing contest. My #s concert history is better than yours. Deal with it. )
pretty cool... i think this is the only place they're playing (not going on tour or anything as far as i can find). Wish I could check it out!
Man I've been to a lot of shows at #'s. Last one was Tapes n' Tapes. Pro's and con's Pro: You can get really close to the Bands (take great Pictures). Cheap Booze. Wild Concert atmosphere. Cons. Having to get there really early for a great place to stand in for 4 hours. If you end up with great positioning you better not drink because if you have to piss........
I was also in attendance for a lot of those shows. Be dope if we could get Nitzer Ebb to play there again for a one off.
Meh. I purposely left off Nitzer Ebb because I thought their performance was pretty weak. Siouxsie was an oversight. My memory of the 80s and early 90s is...well...not so good for some reason.
Not really. Almost every band on there is from the 80s. Hell, I moved away from Houston in '91. So...
Right, mid-90's was a little late. Should have said around 90-92 when I got into Front 242, Ministry, etc. Can't forget Skinny Puppy "Too Dark Park."
Agreed with the Anything Box comment. I actually thought TKK was a rather weak show when I saw'em. As far as the Skatenigs..loved them, but I've still got a scar on my head from that show.
let's see if my stream is longer, add your bands plus Killing Joke Nitzer Ebb a Split Second Die Warzau Psychedelic Furs Revenge OgHr (one of the best shows I saw though there were many) I could go on and on but I'm just having fun and there were so many more I also played there three times (with two different bands) futants just playing around of course, your list is amazing, great times I'm ok with saying Numbers was my home away from home for a long time, it was my spot. As a kid My dream was just to play Numbers, of course once it actually happened it wasn't enough
"Home away from home" is a good way to think about it, for sure. I've known Bruce since I was a wee lad. Good times. Oh...I've seen a ton more shows there than the ones I listed. I just thought of the exceptional ones off the top of my head. I saw quite a few terrible ones as well. Once I moved to Austin ('91), my #s era ended...for the most part. I still chat with Bruce every now and then...
