Lol, what I don't quite understand about people saying the towels are dirty and whatnot is that, well, aren't your bed in the exact same predicament? How often do you change bedsheets? Plus I read an article that said a fresh mattress weighs about half a kilo less than a 10 year old mattress or something like that (well, you can imagine why). We are surrounded by filth, all you have to do is look hard enough. But there's no reason to be too crazy about it, it's been there all along. And I switch bath towels once a week.
I used to use a different one daily. Now I use 1-2 during the week. My wife tends to use 2 when she showers, and doesn't use the same one twice. I'm just trying to save on Laundry. With a family of four, we burn through enough towels.
Not if you hang it up after using it. If you leave it on a pile on the floor, yeah. If I ever forget to hang up my towel, I certainly use a fresh one the next day. However, if it's hanged up, it takes a long time before it starts to become unfresh.
For those of you who change your bath towel after every use, do you also change your hand towel after every use? Shouldn't that get just as "filthy" after every use?
Speak for yourself. Whenever I wash MY hands, I make sure to give my sweaty junk and swamp ass a good drying.
if you clean yourself properly, this shouldn't factor in i think nolimitnp had the best summary of what I think (just gotta add in the thing about hanging your towel every day. i forgot what it's like to NOT to do that since it's been so many years):
I know, though I'm not keen to putting that same towel on my face immediately afterward. The next day though, it don't even think about it in regards to my bath towel. My towel starts to feel stiff after a few days, which is usually when I change it.
nope...i'm every two weeks, therefore, so is my hubby since i do the laundry. but i make sure they dry properly too, on a towel rack, not a hook. i feel like it never dries completely on a hook and smells like mildew easily. i personally think daily is excessive. i even feel guilty in a hotel when they change it daily. not necessary and a serious waste of water and detergent.
The last two hotels we've stayed at have asked us to reuse our towels by hanging them up to conserve water. Of course they will still bring you fresh ones if you ask, or leave your towels on the floor.
switch towels every few days and throw them in the laundry basket thought that was what most people did
I change my hand towel about every other day to two days, depending on how much use its had. I know, I'm horrible.
At least I can understand that one moreso. If you have guests over at any time, they may or may not be using the towel. Some people (though not me) use a hand towel for wiping crap off their hands (rather than just drying them after washing).. But I don't see guests using someone's bath towels for anything if a hand towel is available. And I hope you're not wiping crap on your bath towel.
Didn't know we had so many students from the Howard Hughes academy of cleanliness. I am diagnosing the people who was their bath towels daily with EHOFC - Extreme Hair, Odor and Fat Complex. Constantly washing and micromanaging sanitary conditions is a great way to weaken your immune system and cause social alienation, leading to depression.
