That is probably why this thread is in the NBA Dish and not Garm.

Should we make an official thread for every single player in the NBA that is not a Rocket?

I am okay with news about other players don't get me wrong. But when we have new threads every day or other day about T-Mac, cmon. It is time to move on people.

I dont know why folks use championships in regards to McGrady when he hasnt even led his team past 1st round!!?

    Here's the path to champonship

    1st round--->2nd round--->Conference Finals--->NBA Finals--->NBA Champs

If the guy hasnt even been past the 1st round in 7 friggin tries (his teammates had to carry his sorry ass to the next round), why even talk about championships?!?!?

He had multiple chances and he was leading the series multiple times.

Excuses are what define McGrady's legacy.

T-Mac was fun to watch and was definitely top 3 during those days but better than Lebron today? Nah. That guy is possessed.

    T-MAC WAS JORDANESQUE!

    :p

Nique scored a lot. He didn't put up monster numbers. His assist and rebound totals were really low.

Yeah, I should have clarified that - in tinman's comparison of Nique to Jordan, I was talking just about scoring points where you could find him in second place (NBA champ scoring wise) behind Jordan a few times and winning once (if memory serves correct).

the playoffs are all about matchups. in my opinion, t-mac has had unfortunate matchups when playing in the playoffs. this is also why the magic beat the cavaliers last year. the cavaliers were supposed to be the favorites in the east but the magic easily beat them, nearly sweeping them solely based on the fact that their team matched up very well against the magic.

this is also the reason people say that the rockets would have still gotten out of the first round last year even had t-mac played. the blazers were a favorable matchup for us. it just so happened that t-mac wasn't able to play against the blazers and we got a favorable matchup against them, resulting in us beating them, and t-mac haters use this as an argument as to why t-mac sucks, lol. they say "without him, we finally got out of the first round."

i understand that many people will beg to differ with me when i say that ni my opinion, t-mac in his prime was better than kobe. if you feel that way, that's cool. i'm not trying to convince people otherwise, but i do think people are wrong when they truly believe t-mac doesn't make his team better.

let's also not forget that kobe never got out of the first round without shaq or pau. yes, t-mac had yao but when he had yao, the rockets always had an unfavorable matchup in the playoffs (we did not match up well with the jazz, thus resulting in consecutive playoff losses to them).

Given this is clutchfans...and Tracy is not the most popular guy on here these days, I may get verbally abused for saying this. I wasn't alive yet to see a lot of the greats of the past....and was very young to remember the later years of Jordan's career. Though granted those were some good ones...rings.
But Tracy in his Orlando days was insanely gifted. I remember at one time pretty much anyone you talked to had him and Kobe as the best players in the NBA. With a split almost down the middle. Now, in life, sometimes it doesn't matter how much you have going for you....if lady luck is out to screw you over...it doesn't matter. Trust me, I know...you can relate that to life or basketball.
Kobe went on to win title after title.....Tracy went on to be injured and...well, more injured. I know, like everyone, Mac isn't half the player he was since MFS.
Sadly people tend to forget the past and only remember his injury years.....still doesn't mean it didn't happen...whether people want to remember or not.

First of, I'm a Tmac fan still to this day but I can't even be high enough to ever say that Tmac in his prime was better than what Lebron is now (still entering his prime)

But man somehow I still remember that game clearly........probably becuase that game was one of the last games showcasing his MVP-like form in Orlando, the guy Houston envisioned to bring glory back to the city before he and the crew fell shorty repeatedly....year after year.........sigh memories ..........sweet memories. Lets not forget that the year before Lebron arrived Kobe and Tmac were the main MVP favorites and perenial NBA 1st teamers.

    Oh well.

Oh, and tinman for the love of God I know you're the resident "living in the past" fan but man its starting to get beyond annoying. I feel like stuffing you with a pillow with Hakeem's nuts (no offense to and watch you drool like a little sick fanboy afterwards.

    STOP IT.

    Let's see-

    http://128.121.186.74/0203ORL5.HTM

On average except SG and SF (Positions played by T-Mac), the Magic were much worse than average in every other position.

T-Mac led the Magic almost to an upset of the Pistons with this supporting cast- Drew Gooden (too young), Darrell Armstrong (old), Gordan Giricek, Pat Garrity, Jacque Vaughn, Chris Whitney and Andrew DeClercq

T-Mac's PER that season has been topped by Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Shaq and Dwayne Wade

You realize TMac has been on teams that have blown 3-1 series lead, 2-0 series leads?

Ever since the 1st round was expanded to best of 7, TMac's postseason teams have gone to at least 6 games (including 2 7-game series), yet he has never been able to propel them.

I am going also going to argue that it is no coincidence that we made it past the first round w/o TMac. Did you even see TMac last year? He was utter ****. He was a ball stopper who was holding the team back.

Good riddance. Now NY fans can suffer through the bull****.

David Robinson posted a 30+ PER season as well. But yeah, other than that, elite company.

McGrady was easily a Top 3 player during his stint in Orlando. Who was the best player during that time? I'll leave that up for debate but McGrady's individual performance as a Magic was insane.
