Yeah BPA is always the best route whether it be football, baseball, or basketball (ESPECIALLY). As someone mentioned earlier, a GM needs to constantly be collecting assets b/c these assets can be moved to round out a perfect roster. That said, there's nothing better than the BPA being a need. I think Cole Aldrich is a perfect fit. He's not your average white stiff: he's mobile, is averaging 5.2 blocks per 40 min (up from 3.6 last year), has a nice offensive game, and hits a pretty solid clip free throw wise (70%). Oh, and he's a 7 footer. Perfect back up, perfect fill in. Though, we might have to trade up for him. If not Cole, Demarcus Cousins next to Jordan Hill is the perfect combination of strength and athleticism. Scary. Lol, oh, and I'd like to shoutout to Donatas, he's the next Lamar Odom. Can't wait for the draft...
Rockets 2010 Pick The Rockets pick in 2011 with right to swap with Knicks Rockets 2012 Pick or Knicks 2012 Pick Sergio Llull Chase Budinger (if getting a wing) I'm not saying giving up all of that, but there should be ammo enough in there to get to pick 5. Or the Rockets could just get lucky and end up with one of the three top picks.
Morey will get a vet 4/5 thru trade or FA. The position is too important to entrust to a rook. And Morey loves to take young Euros with big upside and stash them overseas for a few years. That said, I would love to see 6'11 SF/PF Jan Vesely as a Rocket.
Drafting a player that we need to fill a position is a bad idea. The best way to draft a player is to draft the best player possible. I mean are you going to draft a decent Center for a back up role or you going to draft a guard that will be a superstar one day? I rather go with the superstar in the making other than drafting a player because we need to fill a spot.
Are you kidding me? You rather draft a player to fill a spot other than drafting the best player available? Drafting the best player available is always the best option. Why would you draft a good role player to back up Yao other than drafting a future all star or superstar? If we can draft a great high potential PG or SG, we can always trade away Brooks or Lowry and get a big man in return. You don't draft players because you need a big man. That's is stupid. Its like drafting a Marcus Camby type player to back up Yao other than drafting a Derrick Rose because you have 2 point guards. Sure Brooks and Lowry are solid, but if you have a chance to get a superstar potential PG, you get him. If not, that will turn around and bite us in the ass. Thank God Morey is the man for the job. He even said that he will always go for the best player available. Its like drafting Thabeet over Curry because we need a Center to back Yao up. Remember the Rockets can always trade for what they need, but if you have a high lottery pick, you go after the best player you can get.
Damn, I just clicked on the ESPN link and won the first pick and John Wall with the Rockets!!! I know there's only like 0.6% chance of that ever happening though.... but still... thought that was funny.
hmm..i'm gettin interested with Eric Bledsoe..but not sure if he will be on the draft...if Rox get him, expect Brooks to be included in a trade for that Big Man.
I like the Aminu kid from Wake Forrest. Jumper is suspect (though I did see him hit 2 3's against Texas), but tall / huge wing span, freakishly athletic SF. Has some bulk to him as well

I cant believe how many people are sleeping on Sanders.I'm i the only one who see the Defensive potential in this kid?Well alot of people were sleeping on Hill before he got here and just by youtube vids i could tell he had IT!Well Sanders has IT! too.<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e0t3iKQCkzY&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e0t3iKQCkzY&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="385"></embed></object>
I know some people on this board don't want to hear this, but we have a shot to move up in the draft board with Hornets getting Chris Paul back(beat Mavs yesterday) and the Bulls getting back Rose & Noah, not to mention the rockets resent Injury's(Battier, Jeffries, Hill, Andersen).. We could be looking at the 11th pick.... --RB
I don't think the Bulls want to move out of the top 10 cause if they do they have to swap picks with the Bucks to complete that Salmons trade.
I'm pretty sure the Bulls are more concentrated right now on trying to make the playoffs. Besides, the Rockets will probably get the same caliber of player at #11 that they would get at #13. Not a huge deal. The top 10 is pretty much locked up, with the Clippers unlikely to win enough to surpass New Orleans, Memphis, Houston and whatever team barely misses the playoffs in the East.
BPA Rocket's biggest need in 2006 was a 6'10"+ F/C to play PF and eventually backup Yao, when Mutombo retires and to replace Chuck Hayes spot with a big body. Timberwolves offered the Rockets the 6th pick to get Brandon Roy and pulled out and gave it to Portland at the last minute. You would have drafted Saer Sene or Josh Boone, instead of Brandon Roy? With hindsight, you would have drafted them over Rondo due only to position? Rocket's still had the same needs in 2007 for a big man. They had multiple guards, Alston, Head, Francis, and Mike James. There was very little meaningful minutes available for another 6'0" guard, but they drafted Brooks. You would have drafted Fazekas, Splitter, Davidson, or McRoberts over Brooks? We didn't need an undersized PF with Hayes and Scola was just acquired before the draft. The Rockets need a PF with size that could possibly play backup C, when Mutombo retires or gets injured. They projected the undersized Landry as better than the 6'10-6'11" PFs available at that position. You would have drafted Fazekas, Davidson, or McRoberts over Landry?
I want to draft Hassan Whiteside if his at our position..... there's to much potential with this guy to ignore, specially if his at our position..... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Bl6q49ruwS4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Bl6q49ruwS4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ly2tHy34gJY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ly2tHy34gJY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> --RB
Please stop naming players we cant get. Anyways we sould have no problems getting Larry Sanders at 14<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e0t3iKQCkzY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e0t3iKQCkzY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
