The WNBA's Detroit Shock might be relocating to S.A. next season. The Spurs org needs to sell 6000 season tickets by November to land a team and they have sold 3700 so far.

Other possible candidates to move are the Charlotte Sting (they won't be moving to New Orleans) and the Utah Starzz (Larry Miller doesn't want a WNBA team anymore)

If SA does get the Shock or Sting then Houston might be moving back to the Eastern Conference as they were in the 1st season. That would make some good Finals matchups between LA and the Comets and create more parity between the 2 conferences.

If San Antonio gets the first WNBA team to re-locate, would anything they do automatically have a * by it? You know, the San Antonio *hock, analagous to the San Antonio *purs?

Seriously, I'd be surprised if they moved a WNBA team to SA over Dallas, unless Cuban didn't want it. I heard they were committed to staying in Charlotte...but we'll see.

San Antonio has been working on getting a team for the past 2 years. Ex Longhorn Clarissa Davis Wrightsil has been spearheading the operation. They wanted an expansion team but I don't think the WNBA is looking to expand anymore. 16 teams in a 32 game season is enough.

S.A. hosted the Women's Final Four in March and got pretty good attendance.

If the Starzz relocate to S.A. maybe Ming and Margo Dydek can be fixed-up together. They'd have some tall kids!

i'm all for the Detroit team to move to S.A. but i don't like the idea of Houston being moved to the Eastern Conferance. that is just a band aid on the problem. what happens in four or five years when Janeth or Sheryl retires and we are not the powerhouse anymore? let the draft do its job........move Minnasota to the east and give them a shot at at least making the playoffs. and that move would make more sense. i think even the NBA counter-part should be moved east imho.

Despite some small throwaway comments about eventually going after the WNBA for Dallas, I know of know efforts by Mark Cuban or the Mavs organization toward achieving that goal.

According to the Spurs, selling those 6,000 season tickets guarantees San Antonio a team.

If it wasn't for the Comets keeping people interested in basketball in this town the Rockets would be in New Orleans or Louisville right now. :p

I saw Rebecca Lobo on tv recently and it was the first time that I have seen a white girl with cornrows. Anyone know how come she never gets to play?

She's on the injured list right now. She has missed most of the last 3 years due to ACL injuries. Also Van relies too much on his starters.

Well the NBA has had 2 relocations in 2 years so the NBA must be in even worse shape.
