    Based on the context, I don't think D'Antoni meant to be as offensive as people perceive it.

    Again, as others have said, I strongly think this was a mutilation of context by the media, asking them specific questions to get answers like that. If you asked Antoni why he didn't play Hill straight up, there's no way he'd say because he a bad rookie. That's just ridiculous, even if he really believed that. He simply wouldn't say it. Coaches and front office ppl are always way more diplomatic than that, they're the face of the organization. Being as blatant as that, Antoni would of been slapping Walsh in the face.
