Did Ali Ali Farokhmanesh's (From UNI) 3 remind anyone else of the "Kiss of Death"?

When I saw that shot go in the first thing that came to mind was Mario Elie's 3 against the Suns in 95. If I remember correctly the situation was similar. We were up 1 (like UNI), the suns were scrambling (like Kansas) and Elie's 3 was early in the shot clock like Ali's?

Or am I remembering this wrong?

Not to mention those are two of the ballsiest shot I have ever seen.

Just because he's of Middle Eastern origin doesn't mean you get to associate him with death. Racist thread.

It reminded me a lot of Bryce Drew.

Who wants to make a bet that Carrol Dawson got on the horn with Daryl Morey right after that shot and said "this kid can hit all the clutch shots, if he's available in the middle of the first round you'd be a fool not to draft him"

The "Kiss of Death" was the coldest shot in NBA history. Mario was just that dude.

Farokhmanesh's trey definitely resembles the one Elie iced in Game 7 against the Suns. Drew's shot was a true buzzer-beater, whereas Farokh and Elie's crushing bombs were in late-game situations to put the game out of reach for the opponent. Daggers.

come on, you're reaching just to make the joke

Drew's was a buzzer beater...and one of the more famous ones in tourney history, too

I'll give you that they were from the same area of the court (though Bryce was further back and at the sideline i think)

No I don't think its too much of a reach. A couple of under-scouted small school kids who have big moments in the tourney? Tell me there isn't any similarities there.

The shots and situations were different though, totally. Drew's shot was a miracle because he actually got the pass and got off a decent look. Ali's shot was just straight assassin. That was ridiculous.

I still like this shot more. Although the Northern Iowa shot was amazing.

Surprised no one has corrected this, but Elie's shot put us ahead. The game was tied and the suns double kenny before the halfcourt line to create that situation.
