    Mediocre.

Sometimes the guys who beast it up in college don't have the talent to compete at an NBA level.

He had the talent to compete at the NBA level: scored 16 PPG or better 6 times. Let's see Scola and/or Landry do that. (I'm not saying they won't, but his numbers are in the same neighborhood as theirs.)

He was never a star. Best year ever was 18/8.8. Pretty good numbers, but never star material. Had 6-7 above-average years, and 5-6 pretty crappy years. Definitely never became the star he was in college. (Even at Duke, I always felt he was overrated. A good player with a great supporting cast.)

Basically, he made one of the most memorable shots ever in one of the greatest college games ever - against Kentucky. That's his legacy. Period.

He was a solid player before his ankle exploded. He could score, and was a good passer for a big man. He was a bit of an *******, but he was better than mediocre.

Entering to the NBA was overrated, but he didnt went to superstar like some people thought, but he was a good player, I think is like Odom, he is a good 3rd option in a team, but couldnt lead a team by himself.

I agree with this right, here. I watched Christian Laettner with the Hawks and few years with Wolves. He is probably better than Landry, and slightly better than Scola. If he played today, he'd be slightly better given competition and scratch the top 10-11 power forwards. He couldn't be go to guy or a guy could carry a team to playoffs, like say a Duncan or Webber could.

Skill-wise, he was probably somewhat comparable to Scola, but taller and possibly a little better and would even liken somewhat to Pau Gasol (though not quite as good, but with more attitude and clutch ability). I'd say somewhere in between those two.

Though, he was high in draft. The question remains would draft a player who is only going to marginally better than Scola in the top 5 picks.

Level-wise, probably Lamar Odom to Antawn Jamison level. A guy with alot of talent who isn't quite good enough to be the main man,

Though, I think he was a bit more fiery and competitive than alot of players in those position, and he can hit clutch shots. He didn't live up to expectations, but he often brought a great challenge for his opponents and wasn't push over, like alot of players are now.
