I'm going to the Raleigh area for the last week of August on business, and I wanted to know what some fun things to do there in the evenings would be. Good restaurants? Stuff like that.
I can't give you any specific suggestions, but I used to pass through the Raleigh-Durham area regularly on road trips between New York and Houston. Long as you don't mind college types, you'll have a great time. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants and some decent live music as well. Again, it's been about ten years since I passed through, but it's a college town and probably hasn't changed much.
I've lived here since August of 1995 (Seven years this month) Damn what is there to do here hmmm... NHL Training camp doesnt start till September 12th so the Canes are out of the question. College football which is HUGE (as well as bball) here will be started by then. Aug 24th is NC State's opener. um other then that I dont know, I couldnt tell you about the nightlife here b/c well, oh yea I am still in HS
The place SUCKS ... I lived there for about 9 months, and man it was pretty bad. There is virtually nothing to do. The only 'fun' place is around Morgan Street in downtown, they have a nice Comedy Club where I saw the 99 Comedienne of the Year perform, its a nice little place off of Morgan Street. Further down the same street, a little ways in is Jillians, I went there during the daytime and its like a pool/arcade place. As someone said, if you like the college scene, you got 3 in close vicinity. NC State campus is off of 40, and is a pretty nice area. I personally think the Duke campus area night life was a bit more 'alive'. There is this really nice Pasta restaurant in nearby Cary on South Maynard Street ... very very good food, IMO. Thats about it really --rockit
Thanks for the responses. Oh and Dr. of D&D, as I said, I am there on business so leaving is not really on option, old man.
There is no business in Raleigh... your company should be shot for sending you there. You work for Marlboro? lol. j/k.
LOL Hey DoD have you ever heard of Red Hat, Cisco, Nortel, IBM, Sony Ericsson, SAS? All of them are head quartered in or have large offices here in the RTP area. I see you are in computers Hydra. What company are you with?
Sounds like a who's who of dot com and telecom flops. And yes, I know who they are, I've owned stock in or worked for most of them. That doesn't mean there's anything in Raleigh. "Hey kids, let's go to Raleigh!" "Oh boy dad, let's go see the IBM facilities!" I'm just posting this to harrass a co-worker who is having to fly to NC on Monday.
