Or, as you like to call it, an "uphill battle." (LOL.)

Why don't you put your money where your mouth is.

I say HCR is done; you say it's an uphill battle. How does this sound? If it passes you get lost. If it doesn't, I do.

Or are you ready to admit defeat?

I do not believe you would fulfill your obligations on this matter anyway, so I have no intention of betting with you.

But feel free to get lost if you want to. No hard feelings on this end.

Scaredy cat. Tomorrow you will lose. And that will make this historic victory just a little bit sweeter.

Hierarchy doesn't matter when interpreting a bill, only when interpreting the Word of God.

Perhaps you should be the first to explain this hierarchy to the nuns.

This is going to hit them like a load of bricks!
They are going to get their knuckles rapped for this one.

Make sure to say something like "Case closed," before they can reply to your higher understanding of Catholicism.

    LOL. :)

The nuns very probably will get their knuckles rapped.

And those people in Congress who call themselves Catholics and who are serious about their faith will listen to the Bishops and ignore the nuns.

And with that, the case is indeed closed.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the hierarchy of democratically elected legislative bodies.

59,000 Voting Nuns > Some Bishops

Or the last 500-ish years of Western political hierarchy.

Government > Religion > Single Denomination

I think it will be around 2:00 or 3:00 PM from what I have gathered but I do not believe it is set in stone as to what time it will start. One thing for sure is a lot of people will be watching.

The House convenes at 1 p.m. ET, and Democrats are expecting the actual vote to come between 6 and 10 p.m. ET.

Obama Quotes Lincoln To House Dems: 'I Am Bound To Be True'

The president decided to make a final personal appeal with a Saturday afternoon visit to the Capitol. He spoke after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., reassured House rank and file that the Senate will complete the legislation. More than 50 Democratic senators have signed a pledge to do, Reid's spokesman said.

"Is this the single most important step that we have taken on health care since Medicare?" Obama asked lawmakers. "Absolutely."

In what the New York Times called "an extraordinary session," President Obama began his speech by quoting Abraham Lincoln. "I am not bound to win, but I'm bound to be true," he said. "I'm not bound to succeed, but I'm bound to live up to what light I have."

"You have a chance to make good on the promises you made," Obama told the House members. "This is one of those moments. This is one of those times where you can honestly say to yourself: 'Doggone it, this is exactly why I came here. This is why I got into politics. This is why I got into public service. This is why I made these sacrifices.'"

Washington Post media columnist Howard Kurtz described Obama's address as "the most emotional speech I've ever seen him give."

When you get down to it each member of Congress should vote like a majority of the people in his district feel. They are elected to reflect the views of the people who elected them and not their party. Each of these Congressman has had town hall meetings and received correspondence from their constituents. They know where a majority of their constituents stand on this issue and should thus vote that way. This goes for both parties. The Rep. Congressman from New Orleans should probably vote yes as I am quite sure a majority of the people he represents are for this. I am sure their are more examples of this on both sides. VOTE THE WAY THE PEOPLE WHO SENT YOU TO OFFICE SENT YOU TO VOTE!!!

So do you believe all the Reps and Senators from the south should have voted against Civil Rights legislation because their constituents were opposed to it?

Plouffe b****slaps Rove Over HCR On 'This Week' This Morning

Plouffe: "The politics of this, by the way: If we pass this, we're in much better shape, politically, in the Democratic Party than we are today. Because we're going to go out there and not just talk about what WE'RE for, but what the Republicans are voting against: They are siding with the insurance companies over people who are denied coverage for preexisting conditions, siding with the insurance companies over saving seniors money. So this isn't just about us being a piñata here in the election. Elections are about choice. They are voting against an enormous tax cut for health care for 40 million middle-class families and 4 million small businesses -- that's what they're voting against. ... We are going to be much better positioned politically -- now, that's secondary to what's right for the country -- if we pass this. By the way, we had 15 million new voters vote in the 2008 election. OK, these are people are cynical that their vote really matters. If we don't pass health care, I think that sends a very depressing message. But it's going to be a very powerful message to them that their vote matters and they ought to stay involved in politics."

Rove: "This thing is paid for with Bernie-Madoff-style accounting. ... It's a gigantic disaster."

Plouffe: "Karl and the Republicans would be familiar with that."

Rove: "You will bankrupt the country if this bill passes. ... For God's sake, will you stop throwing around epitaphs [sic] and deal with the facts for once, David? ... We will fight the election on this,. and the Democrats will have significant losses in the House and Senate as a result of this bill."

Plouffe: "If Karl and a lot of Republicans want to call the election already, they ought to break out that 'Mission Accomplished' banner."

Rove: "That's cheesy, David. ... You should not denigrate the mission of the USS Abraham Lincoln."

I preface by saying that I am all for any and all civil rights legislation that has been passed but these people are elected to represent the voters in Washington. If the majority in their district were against it they should have reflected their views. I happen to think the civil rights legislation was supported by a majority and thus passed. I happen to believe that the congressman of that time followed this principle much more so than the ones of this generation. Civil rights had a lot of bi-partisan support because people voted their constituents views.

Get your fist-pumping and smack-talking in now while you have the chance. Because there may not be much of an opportunity for you to cheer later in the day.

The vote is close, and there is beginning to be speculation that the Dems might have to call off the vote. If the Dems call it off, that's almost certainly the end of the Senate bill, and by extension, the end of 'Obamacare'.

[RQUOTER]New Whip Count Updates: Vote Is Close, Should They Delay?

Of course these are only estimates and I can’t see them holding the vote unless they know for sure they have the numbers.

But according to the Hill, they are right on the edge with 37 Democrats voting No and at least 19 unclear, including 3 who voted No last time. If the 37 no votes stick and one of the three former No’s stay that way, then that is enough to defeat the bill.

Firedoglake.com also has it very close with 205 Yes, 207 No and 10 leaning No (which would be enough to defeat) plus 9 unknowns.

Again I can’t imagine them holding the vote unless they have the numbers and it may be more of a matter of deciding how many they can let vote no.

Personally I still think they should wait on the vote to give them time to discuss things with constituents, fine tune some of the issues raising concerns (I wouldn’t mind them addressing the Bronze Plan issue, the one thing that is keeping me on the fence).

I know some are opposed to delays because this is an important issue, and I understand that. On the other hand most of the major coverage provisions don’t take effect until 2014 and they could probably pass a separate bill with the things that do go into effect now (IE no pre existing conditions, preventative care, etc).

With the rest of it going into effect in 2014, it wouldn’t really hurt if they passed that in May or June.[/RQUOTER]
