Hitting someone with a shoulder is one of the best ways to transfer your force into them (see "football 101"). I imagine that a massive human being like Glen Davis jumping up and slightly over into someone who is already on an ascent can easily boost them upward an extra few inches. May not seem like much, but that extra few inches, plus the extra hang time that the boost provides, will make a great jumper like Chase look superhuman.

That's exactly what I think happened here...but after all this deliberation, it looks like we'll all just have to agree to disagree.

Dude quit dissing the Rockets and Chase's amazing vert -- it's like you are jealous of his jumping ability or something. Glen Davis was an anchor hanging on Chase during that play -- if Davis doesn't bump him during the play his head would have been above the rim.

I love the bench reaction. I'm very happy to see Yao there with his team mates, having a great time, and smiling after Chase's sick dunk.

You know when Clyde is that excited about how high a guy is on a dunk it is something special.

Clyde has been in that rare air himself.

His wavy hair was already above the rim.

Really, I thought it was pretty good. Unexpected and funny.

Trust me, Chase didn't need help from the Baby to get up there.

I've seen him get just as high before on alley-oops before at Arizona, particularly one at Cal his freshman year.

I once saw Chase jump a Hummer with a lift kit and dunk ... in a game.

You throw out so many discombobulated points I assumed that you meant his head being above the rim warranted more PT for him. Bud is nice, but nothing more than a 20 mpg player at most. Also, I don't think he is going to develop a killer streak or a new aspect to his game, he is what we thought he was. Any improvements will come from watching the game and knowing exactly where to be on defense at all times since he is so slow laterally. Putting him on the court and asking him to "figure it out" isn't always the best solution, especially for a guy so prone to disappearing.

So pop open a watered down American beer and chillax

Seriously though you think that colliding into someone helps you jump higher

LOL... all the debate over whether Davis helped C-Bud on the dunk cracks me up. I agree with those before, the bench reaction was the best part, especially Scola. I really hope the team never trades Luis... he really is an awesome teammate.

+1 on the doctor's diagnosis ... I think it threw him off yet held him in place and gave him time to operate in midair

Reasons why I like this thread:

    1) Highlights of Cbud showing Boston who's got the better pasty ginger.
    2) The seinfeld "single spit theory" levels of speculation/analysis that followed because of Glen Davis' shoulder.

Boost or not, he gave us +2 points with great ball handling that we didn't have before that. Too bad we didn't pull out this one.

    Uhh...yes.

How does the application of an upward force on an already upward moving object not cause it to go higher?
