Was this thread about Muslims? Why did you feel the need to mention a Muslim reaction at all? Did you consider how any other groups would react or just Muslims?

    Obvious troll is obvious.

Uhm... Muslims are mocked, insulted, lied about almost every day.

I haven't heard of clerics of any other major religion issuing death threats in the recent past as a reaction to mocking/insults.

I agree it is classless and off-base to make fun of Jazz fans for being Mormons.

Now making fun of Mormons for being Jazz Fans that's another matter.
I am an unapologetic bigot towards the Jazz and their fans. I am a Rocketists!

OK, this is a true story:

A couple of years ago, I'm sitting in my apartment drinking beer and playing Guitar Hero. I have the windows and blinds open to my apartment. I see a couple of 18-19 year old female Mormon girls walk by. Then I hear them knock on the door of the apartment across the hall from mine. No one answers. They then knock on my door.

They're cute, so I open the door.

I say hello, they introduce themselves, and proceed to go into what seemed like a canned opening. They share the basics of LDS Mormonism and I politely wait for them to finish.

At this point, I'm 3 or 4 beers in.

Once they're finished, I say "Well, I don't know about all that. But let me tell you something. I CAN NOT STAND THE UTAH JAZZ! ARE YOU UTAH JAZZ FANS? BECAUSE THEY BUMP MY TEAM OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR!" I then go on a little rant about flopping and various Utah Jazzery that makes me mad.

Anyways, the girls were actually pretty cool and were NBA fans. They said that they weren't Jazz fans, but preferred the Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash was their favorite player (Is that not almost stereotypically perfect!?!).

After we talked about the NBA a little bit, I thanked them for their time and said they could leave some literature if they had any. They never came back to visit me again.

In my experience, Mormons are pretty cool people. Yeah, the door to door thing is a little off putting, but I can't criticize their beliefs any more than the next religion.

Minor clarification: the LDS "sister" missionaries go on missions a little bit later than the guys, age 21 or older I believe.

As a former LDS missionary (and with a little brother heading to Latvia for a mission in a few weeks), I have to ask that you PLEASE not be dickish to the missionaries. You don't want to chat, fine, but seriously, it can be hard work.

Unless the missionaries start harassing you (which I know has happened in isolated incidents). If that happens, do what you gotta do. Those types of missionaries piss everybody off. :)

I have some LDS friends, and I used to crack on them with stuff like....Wow, there are 19,911 people at the Delta Center today, thats what 15, 16 families worth?

They didn't (at least outwardly) appear to find that offensive...but anything much worse than that is probably a little over the line.

Yea at the TCU basketball game against BYU all 3 mormon families in Fort Worth showed up and had more fans then all the TCU fans haha.

I'm just kidding around but I have a serious question, do you have to be mormon to go to BYU? What do some athletes do, cause I know they're not all mormon for sure.

Mormons are cool. Except for the ones that are Jazz fans.

You don't have to be Mormon, but you do have to agree to abide by the school rules, which are pretty conservative. For example, drinking alcohol isn't allowed, non-married boys/girls aren't allowed to live together, that kind of thing.

It definitely happens that non-Mormon players have been put on probation and suspended from playing mid-season for breaking school rules, but other than that they definitely have and recruit non-Mormon athletes.
