i think the only way scola will be leaving is a trade for amare or bosh. other than that, dont worry scola.

People have to get out of the frugle mentality. If the man is an 18 point scorer and gets 10 rebounds, pay the man his market value.

We know his production isn't a whim, he is consistent. He gets garbage points, he get's crafty points, he gets 15 foot shots.

I'm kinda glad he is worried about it. Means he wants to stay, where he belongs. It can't be said enough, if we want to make a run during the Yao era, the time is now and our #1 priority is to get this guy under contract. 3 years with the player option for a 4th at 6 Million a year seems fair.

Will any team offer Scola more than a MLE contract? If so, who?

In most years, this would be true. But next year plenty teams will cap space and nowhere to spend it. It really all depends on how teams fare with the top FA. But the leftover teams, short of perhaps Clippers, can all use a PF.

Yeah - and Bosh, Boozer and David Lee are all unrestricted free agents. I have to say, with all the top notch unrestricted talent available this offseason, I can't imagine too many teams jumping to tie up their money by signing Scola to a deal the Rockets have 10 days to match.

Clips got Griffin. Do you really think they are going to offer Scola a contract? And if they offered Scola a contract, do you really think they are going to offer more than MLE money?

What teams with more cap space than the MLE are going to be willing to offer Scola a multiyear deal deal over the MLE?

Point: I think we are going to wind up matching a MLE contract, unless some team like the Lakers or Nuggets pays a team in the East their first rounder and $3 million cash to get that team to offer Scola a bigger contract to cause us to either lose him or jam up our cap.

The players had more to worry at the deadline, scola included......everyone and their mother knew tmac would be traded, so there would be some kind of trade. As huge as his contract was it was likely another rocket would be included...and i think in their inner circle they were warned that someone significant be have to be thrown in or maybe they heard something along that line.

This offseason there's no desperation to trade anyone or acquire a big name. I'm sure he'll worry some during the summer, but from his perspective getting traded mid-season would be a whole lot more hectic than if it happened during the summer. It would be more difficult to learn the plays on the fly and he'd have less time plan his move and get his family situated.

David Lee's actually restricted, but fairly moot point since NY will either resign him(no 2 max FA) or release him(Lebron/Bosh).

Teams don't have to offer Scola a deal immediately once FA starts. And you say there are many FAs, but most are likely to resign with their own teams. Even David Lee is liable to stay in NY now given that they've cleared enough room to tender him, give someone a max deal, and give another player a hefty contract(perhaps even Scola if D'Antoni REALLY likes small lineups).

Out of all the FA power forwards, the only player that's definitely signing with another team straight up is Boozer. Bosh likely is going to stay in Toronto or go elsewhere through S&T. Lee is likely in NY unless they really do have some backroom deals for Lebron + someone else. Amare has a good chance of exercising his option or get traded.

There's a reason why Morey thinks the Rockets are more in position to make a splash now than they were before the deadline deals.

This article didn't say anything that we didn't know already.

Scola said pre-trade deadline nobody wants to leave Houston. I think Scola wants to stay even if it means getting a little less salary.

I rather have Scola than Bosh, imo. Scola's game is a better fit with the current Rocket roster.

Scola needs to thank Kings GM Geoff Petrie for insisting on Landry instead of him.

Scola is a restricted free agent, no matter what another team offers him we can match it. It's going to be like the landry situation with the bobcats.

I hope yao dosent take away from scola next season. scola needs to stay in the current aggressive nature even when yao returns.

He's probably one of the worst defending PFs capable of 18/10 or better and he also has absolutely no upside. I'm all for paying him fairly but he's worth less than his stats might indicate.

Lee's unrestricted, because of that 1yr, qualifying offer they gave him.

Is his market value really that high? Won't he be overpaid after the 1st year and with a new CBA that would allow us to get better players for the same money?

Scola is worth every penny of the money he will get because I hate whinners (so called NBA stars...cough, cough McGrady, cough).
