I'm using Jordan Hill for this example. Obviously its still early in his Rockets career, but there are some real signs he is a real solid player. How on earth did he not get hardly any PT with the Knicks. Lee is their PF of the future, but Hill could have played center. Some franchises make young talented players look like throw aways and turn some solid veterans into after thoughts! Thats why there are franchises like the Rockets, Lakers, Suns, Utah, and there are the current crap ones like the Knicks, Warriors, and Clippers. Thoughts?

It's called Morey doing his home work on Hill and it shows.I read some that maybe the knicks where trying hided Hill by not playing know teams might want him when they try to unload jeffiers.I guess Morey didn't fall for it.

Nope. The thing is Lee isn't. They will have to give up his rights to go after their precious FAs. I think by the time they strike out and miss on their guys Lee will be signed elsewhere like Sacremento or something...

So it really was just pointless, they just didn't want to play him for whatever reason.

i was with you until you mentioned the suns in the same breath as all the other teams that "get it." in recent years, the suns have given away talent and first round draft picks for no reason other than to get under the luxury tax line. the suns should be a much better team than they are. in my opinion, their front office doesn't "get it" at all.

Suns have done those things, but they revived Grant Hills career, and managed to turn Channing Frye into a player! Also Raja Bell and Boris Diow were turned into solid NBA players, when they were not much when they got there.

You guys do realize we really won't know till next year if these trades do pan out right?

I'll reserve my judgment if this front office truly does "get it" next year especially since right at the moment we're a lottery team.

    I don't get it?

We trade away $23million of useless, one rotation player (who admittedly is too short to bring it on both ends)

and receive back a young PF who can play (and is tall enough to properly play), we also get a SG who is cheap for a guy who scores 20ppg with ease.

    The trades already panned out.

The BONUS is that we now have draft pick options (that look nice); plus we have $15million in 2 expiring players who don't REALLY need to play one second (ie, big time trade bait to pull a repeat performance next season).

for the record, we were a lottery team when we made the trades.

What would the Rockets look like with CD as GM?

If CD was still the GM what moves do you think the Rockets would have made, or based on history, who would we have drafted in the last 2 seasons?

I honestly have no idea, all I know is we probably would have ended up with Allen Iverson and still have Stevie Francis on our squad.

    What do you think?

Morey was the GM who signed Francis in his second time around as a Rocket

Hmm. Jackie Butler to a 5 year 30 million dollar deal after a stellar performance in back-to-back preseason game.

Mike James is still the PG.

He was referring to Landry. He meant "We trade away $23million of useless AND one rotation player (who admittedly is too short to bring it on both ends)".

I'm glad New York couldn't see the potential in Hill.

would've drafted big baby over aaron brooks since we had only 1 PF and like 3 PG's on the roster at the time.

We probably have gay. I know he was gm when we made that trade, but that seemed like a morey move. We would have signed iverson and trade for other big name old player.
