I bought tickets in advance for good premium games assuming everybody wants to go and the earlier the better incase the game gets sold out.

Well I paid $85/each for decent seats awhile back for the boston game, now better seats are available for $70, and they still cant sell out one of the best games of the season on a friday night.

Did the Rockets tickets dept get too greedy after last years playoff sucess?

Nope, it was the market at the time. Factors have changed since.

Tickets went on sale when everyone already knew tmac and yao were out and during a major recession, but I guess they thought they would try to squeeze the most out of there best fans?

    You guess wrong.

It's all about supply and demand. Before the season started, there was a significant portion of the fan base who thought we'd be legitimate playoff contenders, and I'm sure the Rockets took this into account when determining prices for premium games.

Now that it looks like we won't make the playoffs, do you really expect the demand to be the same? Conversely, if the Rockets were the #1 seed and comparable tickets to yours were selling on ebay for $125/ticket, would you be complaining that the ticket dept originally sold their tickets too cheaply?

Demand goes down, prices go down. It's a pretty simple concept.

The same thing happened to me with the first lakers game at the begining of the season. I bought $85 tickets, and a week before the game they lowered all the prices.

This is the first time I known the rockets to not sell out these premium games. They priced the tickets too high, and people simply refused to buy, and they had to make adjustments to fill the seats.

Some ticket category prices went up almost 40% compared to last year.

Also if im buying my seats first and at a higher price, I would like to think Im getting beter seats.

Instead they sold all the crappy seats first at $85, and then lowered the prices and sold the better seats.

Am I wrong in feeling I got kinda shafted here?

Hmm, I guess I was aloof of the ticket dept. trending this season - but it doesn't surprise me if they made the stated adjustments.

At some point I plan to fire in with one of the more humble season ticket packages, but this year it seemed particularly - no, unbelievably - economical to w**** up FlashSeats constantly for deals on a game by game basis.

Yes, you are wrong. At the time of the purchase, you knew exactly what you were getting so you must've thought it was a fair price.

I'm not sure how much truth is in that statement. The fact is, we are not contenders this year, and even with significant price cuts, people do not want to see losers.

I bet they used some money analysis to see what the max they could get for those tickets.

thats not too surprising but the crap they pulled last year for game 4 tickets against LA was real lame selling tickets for a high price when they knew Yao was going to be out and then after the news broke dropping tickets prices like crazy in less than what 18-24 hours?

I think the lesson is that you either shouldn't buy the tickets early and take your chances that the price goes down.

I buy my tickets at the beginning of the season and I know I couldn't get my money back on them if I sold but what's done is done.

I don't think it's wrong to feel that way. I'd probably be annoyed too. But that's just how supply and demand works. It's not like you're going to voluntarily pay more for a ticket if the price went up after you bought it.

I've always thought that unless it's the playoffs or allstar weekend, you can always purchase tickets close to game day and still be able to find decent priced seats. At least whenever I went, I bought them that same week or just days before.

Call the ticket office and see if they'll upgrade you.

You may find yourself out of a ticket come game time. Its a gamble. I live in GA, so I only catch Rockets/Astros when they come to ATL. With both I never have a problem getting tickets the weeks of games, usually after market for way below face value. If the Rockets aren't selling out in Houston then you are right to use that strategy, just know that it could change.

I just received an emails saying they are offering upgrades for the Boston game. I think usually you can get in the club level for an extra $50 and on the floor for an extra &100.
