I love how when Slaton realizes that Jenkins has busted completely through, he makes one last ditch effort to sort of push him off course...and it looks like Jenkins doesn't even feel it. Probably thought he got stung by a mosquito.
I would love for the Texans to get more exposure but if there is any chance that it could be a distraction, than I'd rather not.
I don't really get why we want them to get more exposure. They make a fortune as a team and sell out their games. Why even take a chance that could be a distraction just so we can up the profile of a few players and maybe increase merchandise sales? The credibility of the team in Houston is going to hinge on whether they finally make the playoffs or not. It won't matter how uber awesome David Anderson is on Hard Knocks if the team goes 8-8 next year.
I don't think not having outgoing players means a whole lot. Hard Knocks has always struck me as being story driven rather than character driven. NFL Films could make a great show following any team around.
It would be nice to get the Texans some national exposure and it can't hurt the fan following. I don't know about you, but being a Texans fan amongst a group of NFL diehards is a little disappointing... no one seems to know jack about the team other than Andre Johnson, and even then its spotty.
I love Hard Knocks, are or any sports documentary period (HBO 24/7, UFC Primetime/Preview Shows) but as cool as it would be to have the Texans on there, there are too many of our top players with unhappy contract situations that I wouldn't want them voicing their opinions on then getting played all over the show
I dont know why everyone keeps mentioning that we dont have personalities on the team...just because we dont have a guy that has his own iphone application doesnt mean that the guys are going to be boring to watch. When you have a full roster, you will have plenty of people that will be entertaining to watch. Yes, the Bengals had Ochocinco...its not like he carried the show on his own shoulders...they had many other storylines throughout the last Hard Knocks. We have plenty of entertaining people on the team...they dont need to be Twitter kings or DUI masters for people to enjoy the show.
This franchise needs something. Something different, exciting and fresh. I'd love talk to some people that don't watch a lot of Texans ball and have them say, "Andre Johnson, he's really good huh?". Houston gets so little run in the national scene. I'd like the team to get a little lime light. HBO produces a great series in Hard Knocks. They do dig in very deep but that's what makes their show great. No pulling punches and showing it how it really is. If this team becomes legitimately distracted by cameras when they are surrounded by cameras every Sunday then we have bigger problems such as maturity. I think they'll be just fine. Too bad this is Houston. It won't happen.
This team is a fringe playoff team. I'd rather they avoid anything that could mess them up. That doesn't mean I think this would, it means I think Bob should make sure Kubiak is on board and not just do it for monetary reasons.
If Texans Players can't handle Hard Knocks and get "distracted" by it, then they can't handle a full NFL season and wouldn't be ready to make a playoff run anyway. I say go for it and I would love to watch it. I would order HBO immediately if the texans got to do it.
Well why did HBO choose the Bengals? They were crap going into this past season..all they had was Ochocinco. But...they made an interesting story out of what they had....and BTW..the Bengals made the playoffs...there was NO distraction apparently. It would be nice exposure...but I doubt they will come here. I have a feeling they would LOVE to have Rex Ryan and the Jets..not to mention the story with LT going there, it's freaking New York and they are moving into the new Meadowlands....too much appeal for HBO.
How long does Hard Knocks run? It's mostly just during preseason, right? Or does it run the length of the regular season as well? I've only ever seen bits and pieces of previous seasons.
I would love it if the Texans made it on Hard Knocks. It would be a good step forward for a franchise that has no national identity.
