Kinda sucks. I was looking to see if we had a 2nd rounder.

We traded it to Minnesota for Garald Green and to get rid of Coo coo Kirk Snyder.

I was hoping the Rockets could grab Dexter Pittman in the second.

oh well. Just a small rant.

    As a die-hard Texas fan...

Drafting Dexter Pittman and not having a second round pick are one in the same.

So we didn't have a 2nd rounder last year. Kinda sucks.

I was hoping the Rockets could take college stars like Budinger (if he falls) and Jermaine Taylor or get a promising international like Sergio Llull to stash away.

Still. I'd rather have them than buy em'

I'm more upset because We've had to give away 2nd rounders to get rid of players

    ala Steve Francis and Snyder.

Dexter Pittman is an uncoordinated, unassertive behemoth. Aside from the occasional baby hook over his left shoulder, his only offensive weapon is dunking.

He'll fade in to obscurity once he leaves the Forty Acres.

They trade away second rounders in order to get under the luxury tax. That gains the team millions in shared tax revenue which they reinvest into buying picks. End result is more or less the same in terms of picks but they're probably making out ahead on the accounting side.

Actually, I think they made out ahead on the picks side. But then again, $ can buy picks and picks can be sold for money, so we are really talking about the same thing.

It cost them 1 second rounder, for example, to dump Francis. That saved, I think, about $2.5-3 mil in tax and similar amount in distribution... so, let's say about $6 mil. They were able to buy 3 2nd round picks with that money, I think. Pretty good deal for them. Pretty good deal for Memphis, too, since all they took on was less than 1/2 of Francis' salary (only the post-trade-deadline portion), so I think $1-1.2 mil for the 2nd rounder.

If we really needed/wanted it then Les would pay for it or Daryl would put some wizardry in play for it.

Yeah like others have said, If we have to we'll just purchase some second rounders, specially if Willie Warren falls to the second round... I wouldn't mind if the rockets picked him up....

Actually, he's quite coordinated for his size. The problem is the second quality you note. His aggressiveness and mental fortitude is...I can't even think of an appropriately abject analogy.
