I'll settle this.. Yao Ming: career 19 and 10 player, career 83% FT shooter, career 52.5% FG, anchor of a top 5 defense last 4 years, 7-time all-star, got rockets out of first round for first time in over 12 years, teams MUST game plan SOLELY for his game (there isn't a player in the league who impacts a defensive game plan more than yao, yes including kobe, lebron). Suffered injury each of the last 4 years due to high minutes and constant physicality on both ends. Luis Scola: career 13 and 8 player, career 74% FT shooter, career 52.2% FG, crafty defender, hustle player, career overachiever. Craftiest offensive game in the league. Contributes most to rockets identity. elite power forward in the NBA. Durable (never been out for extended period). One thing they both have in common: HEART...both these guys give it up every single night and do everything they can to help their team and become better on the court. Lets just be happy we have both, knowing that with that frontcourt we can beat any team in the league.
Yao does get a lot of attention. It's not same when score w/ double teaming and entire defense collapsed on you. But I am happy for Scola.
i like luis obviously their good friends and they joke around...hope to see both of them on the court next season. (injury-free crosses fingers whole rockets roster)
What? Why would I say Yao would come back shorter than 7'6 even though he's only 7'5. The reason why I said he may not be as effective once he comes back is because of the severity of his injury and he sat out from playing for over a year which would take at least a few months for him to get used to playing at an NBA speed.
I don't see a problem for Yao to get over 41pts at all. It's just a matter of how willing the Rockets feed him the ball. In fact, I think Yao getting over 40pts is pretty easy than most players because he's so efficient that it almost seem effortlessly. The problem again....is the Rockets players willing to find him and Yao being a little more selfish.
It's no secret that in the past, when Yao has got it going the team just forgets about him. Or maybe more so just goes away from him. Yes, we forget to pass him the ball. It would be cool if when Yao comes back these two have a little friendly rivalry going on.
Everyone DOES realize that Scola scored 44 on the Nets, while Yao scored 41 against a much better Hawks team? Not to take anything away from Scola, but you can't really compare the two scoring nights.
Yes, you certainly can compare the two scoring nights. I'm not sure it is useful to do so, but to say you can't compare them is, pardon me, rediculous.
damn just think how sick this guy would be if he had a left hand am i the only one that immaturely chuckled when he said "that's not the only thing you have that I don't"....
it's gonna be a mayhem of scoring next year  yao i made 50 and in the next few games Scola , Brooks and Martin with 50
Definitely sounds like Scola Man loving it, he really GETS it Love how he's good naturedly calling out Yao. "I gone mine big fella ... come on beat me." good natured and that's how TEAMMATES motivate each other with competition would LOVE to have Yao drop 50 next year and come back and say to Scola "ok brother you next"
IIRC the joke started during a minor BBS debate about whether Scola wrote his own blog entries, and somehow, people started taking it for fact. (Turns out Scola writes his entries in Spanish, and Sina has them translated into English and Chinese.) Yup, Scola puts up 44 points, then gets home and updates his blog. He's the hardest working man in the NBA.
I believe this is the thread you're referring to, BUT I haven't ruled out the aforementioned video yet. It might've been an interview on FSN. I really can't remember. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=182760&page=1&pp=20
If you really think the post in question simply states that Yao "is only good because he's big and tall," I think a facepalm might be the best response you can come up with. It says, It also says, It also says, It also says, So go ahead and "flame" him (your word) some more. Surely if he's like your ten-year-old nephew he deserves lots of disrespect I don't know what you're thinking about my "panties" right now, but you ought to just stop.
