We still wouldn't make the playoffs.

that's a terrible analysis, you expect the thunder to lose to the raptors and bobcats, but you expect us to beat the suns (who we always struggle with) and the grizzlies.

IMO our only shot (and a long one at that)...

    The victim: San Antonio

    Rockets (32-31). 19 games remaining:

    vs Nets
    vs Nuggets
    vs Grizzlies
    vs Celtics
    @ Knicks
    @ Bulls (no Noah)
    @ Thunder
    vs Clippers
    vs Lakers
    vs Wizards
    @ Spurs (no Parker)
    @ Celtics
    @ Pacers
    @ Grizzlies
    vs Jazz
    vs Bobcats
    @ Suns
    @ Kings
    vs Hornets

Record until end of season: 13-6. Final record: 45-37

Spurs (38-25) 19 games remaining (all w/o Parker):

    vs Clippers
    @ Miami
    @ Orlando
    vs Golden State
    @ Atlanta
    @ Oklahoma City
    vs Lakers
    vs Cleveland
    @ Boston
    @ New Jersey
    vs Houston
    vs Orlando
    @ Lakers
    @ Sacramento
    @ Phoenix
    vs Memphis
    @ Denver
    vs Minnesota
    @ Dallas

Record until end of season: 7-12. Final record: 45-37

    Tiebreaker: Houston Rockets

Like I said, a reach. This includes the Spurs going 1-6 during a 7 game stretch (albeit a killer one aside from New Jersey).

The only scenario in which we have a real shot at making the playoffs is to run the table and go on a 19-win streak. As long as we have that chance, I am optimistic.

    Durant is beasting!

I don't know if Thunder are a victim but I'd like to see Rockets go on some winning streak - that would be pleasant to watch, as a fan, coach, player etc.
That gives some hope for next year

SA is the only team in the playoff race under 40 wins right now. They by far are our best shot into the playoffs.

I agree with those that think either the Blazers or Spurs will falter.

We can make it...but it'll be VERY close.

Which season was it that the Suns made it to the 8th seed when they were battling with the Rockets? I think that playoff berth went to the last game of the season where the Rockets blew it by losing.

    Stevie-Cat era....still miss it.

02-03, that was Yao's rookie season- we went 43-39 and missed the playoffs by a game. Amare got ROY

Good call. That was damn disappointing. Rudy T never got to take Cat/Steve/Yao to the playoffs. That season was the closest.

We need to win Wednesday and see portland lose 4 of it's next 5 really to have a decent hope when you look at the schedules.

    It could happen:

    Portland's remaining schedule realistic scenario:

    Was (Win)
    Phx (Lose)
    Dal (Lose)
    NO (Win)
    OKC (Lose)
    NY (Win)
    Den (Lose)
    Sac (win)
    LAC (Win)
    Dal (Lose)
    LAL (Lose)
    OKC (Win)
    GS (Win)

7-6 for final record of 48-34

    Rockets (Currently 34-31)

    Mem
    Bos (lose)
    NY
    Chi
    OKC
    LAC
    LAL (lose)
    Was
    SA
    Bos (lose)
    Ind
    Mem
    Utah
    Cha
    Phx
    Sac
    NO

The Rockets would only be able to lose 3 games the rest of the way to catch Portland playing at an expected level. Problem is, Portland is playing very well right now, and it's hard to imagine we can close the season out at 14-3 that would require wins over Phx, SA, Mem (x2), Utah, and OKC. Sweeping those 6 games will be tough.

If we finish that at 3-3 and close out at 11-6....then portland has to lose 3 more....in other words stumble to a 4-9 record.

The playoffs are very unlikely to have this year. I think the next two games will be telling. If we win on Wednesday and then pull of a win against Boston and Portland loses a few - there's definitely hope.

I seriously think we can pass San Antonio. Their remaining schedule is really tough and we are only 5 back.

    Golden State
    @ Atlanta
    @ Oklahoma City
    LA Lakers
    Cleveland
    @ Boston
    @ New Jersey
    Houston
    Orlando
    @ LA Lakers
    @ Sacramento
    @ Phoenix
    Memphis
    @ Denver
    Minnesota
    @ Dallas

I believe it can happen. There has been this crazy energy in the arena these past few games. The Rockets have regained their confidence and are comfortable out there. They trust and believe in each other. You see it in their face when they're out there!

    I BELIEVE!
