Who said anything about helping the Rockets? You said the Spurs would never trade Duncan to us. As for the Hornets trade, I think our deal is better. Of course they may not go for it due to uncertainties about Ming, but Francis IMO is better than Davis, and plays in the same conferance. And Magloire's 9ppg don't impress me, especially in the East.
The Spurs would never trade Duncan to us. Plain and simple. The only transaction I can remember b/t the 2 teams was the Spurs selling Vernon Maxwell to us for 25k, back in 1989. The Spurs realized their error, and probably will never trade anyone of significance to us. Duncan is more likely to play in Greece or Spain than in Houston. Get over it, he's never going to be a Rocket.
I never said I wanted Duncan. I don't. But you act like we could never acquire him, if we wanted him, and were willing to give up the whole team.
If money is the issue I'd do it. If money isn't the issue, I'd do it. Sign me up for a Tim Duncan jersey in Rocket colors. All that being said, I don't think it'll happen. For now, The Big Chill is my man.
Your the one who said "never." Never say never unless it truely is never. Yess, that is a lot of if's but it is possible.
when you look at their "potentials" Ming definately has more potential than Duncan....... can you imagine if Ming just add some weight eating some American steaks? tell me who can stop this 7'6 350 pounds guy?
What about Steve, Rice, and one of Ming or Griffin, for Duncan and Parker. Then we still have a chance at the most dominating frontcourt in the league, and a backcourt that, while not as good as Steve and Cat, is still very capable of being top five in the league, sincve Parker is only like 20.
No one should be allowed to ever make another post that refers to Duncan as a center. He is not a center, does not want to play center, and will not sign with a team that makes him play center.
I don't really want Duncan but how in the world could trading for the NBA MVP not help our team? Seriously. He's a 25 & 12 guy! And I love Griff but I don't know if he'll ever be the NBA MVP. I see EG as more of an 18-20 & 10 guy and Ming as a 16 & 10 player. Both very good but lets be real, Duncan is a GREAT palyer and could help any team including the Rockets. You're not alone, I hate both those kids too.
Yao and Griffin for Duncan is a fair trade and should benefit the Rox. Both Yao and Griffin have great potentials and can turn out to be terrific players, but Duncan is the reigning MVP of this league. Get that straight, guys. This is also a doable trade if SA believes that they can't keep Duncan and like to start over. However, if I were the Rox, I wouldn't do this trade for one reason--Shaq. The first reason is Shaq. It has been proven in the last couple of playoffs that O'neal owns Duncan. Duncan loses all his confidence when he faces Shaquille. Therefore, even with Steve and Cat in the backcourt, we wouldn't beat the lackers. Shaq won't play forever. He will retire in about five to seven years. Duncan will be 31-33 at the time and be past his prime. Also, Duncan already had a major knee surgery and his health condition might not hold on. Now, if we keep Yao and Griffin, they will be 27-29 and 25-27 at the time, respectively. Both will be in their prime. You add Franchise (28-30) to that mix, we will have a true championship contender. About yao's health, I think that he may turn out to be a special case. Yao has a body type that we haven't seen in any of the 7'3"+ players who played in the NBA before. Yao has a strong base and most of his weight are in his legs. This is what I call a "pyramid" body type. If you recall, most of the 7-footers have injuries on their legs and feet. The reason is that their legs have to carry too much weight from their upper bodies. And since they are very tall, the joints in their lower bodies simply can't handle that weight and can easily break down. Yao is different. His short arms and small-framed upper body will not create a lot of stress on his big legs and might prevent him from having many lower-body injuries. Therefore, his odd body type might actually be a gift and allow him to play well into his mid to late 30s.
Slyedm :- Keep you hands off our future Stars . Give them a chance and they might both turn out as good or better than Duncan! You never know till you try!
Trading Yao and Griffin for Duncan is like giving up stock options for cash. I will go with cash. Besides, all my stock options are deep under water for the time being.
Wow, this is hilarious. A promising rookie who's offensive game is extremely raw and a toothpick foreign Center who may well be a huge bust netting a top 3 NBA player? Get a grip. If the Rockets offer Francis, Griffin, and Ming, the Spurs would still say no. You don't trade a superstar for 2-3 good players. That's stupid.
Tall and skinny people can have long bball careers. Look at Kareem. Look at. . . uh. . . Bradley. IMO, Duncan is better than Shaq. But that doesn't mean we want to trade our future for him.
