IF he plays w/ John Stockton................ or a Jason Kidd.....

I think Stockton is the ideal team-mate for anyone~~~
    especially if you're 7'6..... 300 pounds......
John will find you........ he will find you and feed u w/ behind the back no look passes......

BUT NOT WHEN YOU PLAY W/ likes of Stevie, Marbury, Iverson......
Pierce, these guys are good ballers.. but they are ball hogs........

Stevie Francis is a very self-centered guy... and he's got real bad attitude.. I don't think he'll be too happy once Ming gets here...
and suddenly everyone look at Ming as the #1 guy in Houston...
Stevie will hate Ming.. and NOT pass da ball to him...

BTW, 20/10 is already all-star status.................

I think if Ming can get 20/10, and his team plays well.. he'll be an automatic all-star......

but I highly doubt it.. I think he'll get 14/10
because he won't get too many shot opportunities... ==> Stevie will not pass to him..

14-10 seems like a lot for 24 minutes per game.

    i'd give 'em 9-6-1.5.

that looks worse than it is. if he were to play all 48 minutes that would be 18-12-3.

    guest,

That’s just crazy! We have watched Steve time and time again pass up easy shots during games over the last three years (particularly in the early parts of the game)to try and get guys like Kevin Cato involved in the offense. He is usually not as generous in the second half of games because we are usually playing from behind. I’ve watched over 90% of the Rockets games since Steve was drafted and there have been a ton of games where he only took 12 - 16 shots during the game. That is not being a ball hog! As a matter of fact he only avg’d:

    14.5 shots a game his 1st year
    15.23 shots a game his 2nd year
    17.6 shots a game his 3rd year

    and

15.6 shots a game for his career

That is not a ball hog at all! Stop writing lies about one of our players if you do not watch the games! If you want to make accusations about his on the court decisions then fine but you can not say that he is a ball hog or a selfish player because you do not have any facts to support your lies.

BTW his shots went up less than 2 a game in a year that he lost two of his primary scoring options in Dream and MoT and replaced them with 4 rookies. If he was a ball hog and a selfish player wouldn’t that have been the perfect excuse for him to start taking all of the shots and not leaving any for anyone else?

Guest why are posting a Ming vs Steve post when there is no comparison on who the best player on this team is. For you to make a statement saying that Ming will get 20 and 10 his first year is just crazy, when Ming can't stay out of foul trouble playing againts lesser competition overseas, while Ming has a great shooting touch for a guy 7'5 he has to put on some more weight to hold his own down low. Until then please stop posting these silly Ming vs Steve threads.

Yeah, these demoralizing sentiments are better suited for the rivals' fans.

Where is everyone getting this crazy "Steve has a terrible attitude" bullsh*t. He's got one of the best attitudes on the team. Is it the fact that he's a scoring pg, or the fact that he likes to dunk?

I think he can average 20-10 on this team if Rudy starts him and he adjusts to the NBA and does not get in foul trouble.

Why can't Ming get 20\10? I think he could too, Pau Gasol got 18\9 so MIng could get 20\10 if his players get him the ball.

I too hate the way Francis is, he has to be the star no matter what. I think he would take being a star over winning games. I wish we had Baron Davis, not Francis....

I think that Francis will (hopefully) acknowledge the advantages of having a 7'5'' player w/ skills, and (hopefully) take full advantage of his skills.

If he doesn't, and Mings game does not progress, something is wrong. Something will have to be done. I love Francis. I think that he DOES have the right to be concerned with the direction the team is going, but I also believe that it is his responsibility (as our POINT guard) to lead this team and its PLAYERS to the level that they (Ming) are capable of playing.

I think the addition of Ming will prove what type of player Francis really is.

And yes, if it were Kidd or Stockton I do not believe they would have a problem with adding a 7'5'' player w/ skills. 20/10? I do not know, but he would definitely have his shots.

Now this is just what I believe...

Yao Ming will NOT average 20 and 10 this season, I'll guarantee that...Hell, I'd put money on it if I were a betting man...

With an inside game,Steve should feed the post and work the ball down there much more. While Ming should come along and adjust over time,it is Eddie Griffin who I see being the first option inside.I'm excited about Ming, but saying he will come in and put up 20 and 10 as a rookie is assinine.Speaking of the interior,I would like to see Cat start to make those entry passes when a guy has his man sealed off for a change..unlike when Dream had position down on the blocks.
OMT..IMO,the guy with the most upside on the Rocks (including Steve and Ming) is Griff, who is growing(literally) into the 4 at an alarming rate, where he should be a stud for years.Either way CD and gang have put together the nucleus for one helluva team.

When Gasol got to Memphis he was straight up the best player on the team off the bat. The Grizz had very few other Scoring options so right away he was the focus of the offence. Also, the team sucked so it didn't matter if they just gave him the ball to see what he could do. Gasol was not getting into foul trouble in international ball either and was able to spend most of the off-season and all of the pre-season w/ the team to help his development. Ming will have none of that going for him so there is no way hw will go for 20 & 10. He won't get 10 boards simply b/c he's not an adepth rebounder yet.

Francis & BD are the same player. My brother is a huge Hornets fan so I've seen more Hornet games than I've wanted to the past 3 yrs. BD does pass the ball more but you know why? Its b/c the Hornets actually run plays and have 2 solid big men to pass the ball to down low. The run double picks for Weasly and Mashburn at least 3-4 times a game for each player and with Campbell averaging 16ppg & Brown averaging 11-12, Davis actually has people to kick it down to in the post. Put Baron Davis in an 90% ISO offence and you would be complaing about him and saying I wish we had Francis b/c on the Hornets team he would be averaging 19 & 8.

crash and Stylez said it best.

Stop trying to convince everyone that Steve sucks because he's a top 5 PG and will only get better. When he actually has some post-players and a consistent line-up he will look much better. He's been in a bad situation, but it will only get better. I can't wait for the season to start, so these people will shut up.

Maybe I didn't write what I was thinking, or you took it wrong, but I am not saying Francis is a bad player at all. I am just saying I don't like his attitude, great players can have bad attitudes, like AI, Stephon Marbury, etc. I think Francis has more skills than Davis, but Davis does not have a head in the clouds like Francis does. Plus Davis is a team player, and would have no problem with Ming becoming a Rocket.

I have yet to see Francis show this "bad attitude." If anyone can point an example out that would be helpfull. How in the hell does Francis have his "head in the clouds?" He made a statement that he wanted to know that the Rockets were on the right track before he signed long term which sounds to me to show that he's focused on winning.

For all of you who said that Baron has worse attitude than Francis, were none of you paying attention this summer? Hornets fans (the few in existence) were ready to crucify him with all of his 'wanting a trade to L.A.' and all that other gossip you heard flying around...
