    He is.

He got the chance he wanted. He is on a loosing team, offensive minded team which doesn't play defense at all. He can do pretty much whatever he wants. I don't think anybody would have a problem if he jacked up 20 shots a game - they are not gonna win anyway.

Yet, he is still standing around and watching David Lee and Galo take shots.

I noticed something last night. After missing that 3pt shot attempt he completly gave up. Next few positions were him standing in the corner or on the wing.

Right now his comeback is a complete failture.

Wow, you really think he could make more money sitting at home in Chicago? Who would pay MLE to a player who hasn't played in 1 1/2 years?

It's incredibly easy for Arn Tellem to explain why T-Mac has trouble moving. The guy's coming off of microfracture. But if he did not go to New York, no team would see that he can still play the game.

    26.9mpg
    11.8ppg
    4.0rpg
    4.7apg
    42.7fg%
    72.2ft%

Quite frankly, T-Mac's averages look pretty damn good. His passing skills in fact are still quite amazing. I honestly can't imagine how putting up these numbers possibly be worse than getting 7 lame minutes with us. A smart GM may say pass, but NBA teams' front offices are not filled with Daryl Moreys. There's still a lot of people who worship the traditional box score.

I stand by what I said.

As long as no one sees him play, they could talk themselves into thinking he's ready to go and just blackballed by the organization. Boston grabbed Marbury in a very similar circumstance.

Unfortunately, by playing, McGrady is demonstrating exactly what he has to offer so that there is no questions.

12 ppg on 43% shooting (and don't forget that 18% 3PT) is fairly crummy for a starting SG. SFs might be able to get away with that if they bring things to the table, but McGrady's atrocious defense is on full display. Add in the fact that he can't make it through a full game or back to backs, and he goes from being a gamble to a foolish bet.

Generally speaking, any GM worth his salt would rather use a roster spot on a 2nd round rookie with possible potential than a guy like McGrady.

Had McGrady stayed holed up in Chicago, no one would be the wiser and could mistakenly assume McGrady had something left to offer.

I think that if T-Mac strings together several well-played games on his part, especially if two of those games are on successive days, then that would really be worthy of discussion IMO. But if we continue to see the same kind of pattern from him in the upcoming weeks like what we've been seeing since the trade, then it's just going to seem rather old in talking about T-Mac at all until the offseason for when he either signs a new contract, or announces retirement.

As it stands right now, Rick Adelman and Daryl Morey continue to look more like geniuses since the trade.

Those numbers are not bad but he's producing these numbers by getting plays/touches and no team will recruit him if he needs plays/touches to get these numbers, given where his defense and 3pt shooting is at...

His multi-year offers will be limited, he will probably sign a veteran's minimum with a solid team. A guard who can't stay in front of his opponent is hard to make a case for, esp. if they aren't happy spacing the floor and nailing jumpers.

That puts T-Mac right up there in a league with Kelenna Azubuike:

    Kelenna Azubuike

    13.9 ppg
    4.6 rpg
    1.1 apg
    54.5 fg%
    67.9 ft%
    37.0 3P%

why do you TOF'ers LOVE him so much?? This guy is total done and I see so many people try to defend him...whats so wrong about admitting the guy is a diva and his garbage?

His Knicks run is about as unimpressive as I have ever seen.

Dude, GMs use more than boxscores. Nobody is that stupid to put their jobs on the line from just looking at numbers.

This was the biggest trade to the biggest stage and you better believe GM's are looking at these games.

Anybody whose been watching him play can see the guy is half assing it after telling the world he was "hungry" and "ready to go".

Thats why he wont get anything but the minimum next year which means he'll probably go play in China.

coz im not a fairweather fan like most of you guys are.

i stick to my icons like glue. even when Jordan was sucking with the wizards, i still supported him. even when michael jackson had all those court cases, i still rooted for him as an artist.

whereas you guys, as soon as a player does something stupid or just breaks down because of things they cant control (injuries) you throw them all under the bus with your knee jerk reactions.

i wonder how long you guys would turn on adelman when he still cant get to the finals even with a good lineup after this year. or how long till you gang up on kevmartin when he start to sucks. or on brooks. etc.

His IQ and court vision is absurd.

Seeing his ability to rack up assists at this rate reminds me of an aging pitcher who at one point was a power pitcher, and in the twilight of his career can still strike guys out at a high rate while having 75% of his old arm strength.

Pretty cool, but sad when you factor in TMacs history of poor work, training, and preparation habits.

    Oh what couldve been....

As bad as what you see of him on this Youtube video in the Toronto Game last season? If so, T-Mac is giving us nothing to talk about because it's the same old stuff we've continued to see from him from last season.

Like I said earlier, if we saw any kind of a change in T-Mac's play for the rest of this season for the better on his behalf, then there really would be something to talk about him while if it's the same old thing, then just watch that video of T-Mac, the Toronto game just for the sake of getting some laughs.
Yep, you got that right. For as long as we continue to not see any overall improvement in T-Mac's overall play, then there's nothing much for us to talk about anymore, which is what I said on my very last post that I have quoted here on this one if we were going to keep on adding more posts to this thread.

    <object style="height: 344px; width: 425px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z04r_tlWdRs"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z04r_tlWdRs" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></object>

My fearless forcast is that as far as T-Mac is concerned, there will really be something new for everyone to talk about when the offseason rolls around.

Yes because placing tracy in a category with jordan, jackson and adelman fits the bill.

All those individual compared tracy to have at least acheived a satisfactory need for you. Whether it be jordan winning a ring, jackson and his top albums, or adelman and his 2 succesful teams. In addition, tracy has also blasted his previous organizations and has acted selfishly many times past a certain threshold.

Go ahead and stick with your "iconic" tracy and I'll stick with my TEAM.

If you want to pretend that Tracy has gone down as one of the most despised Rockets in franchise history because of injuries, you're either being disingenuous or blind.

Find me someone who's pissed about Ralph Sampson. Folks may be dialing back their expectations on Yao, but no one in their right mind hates him because his foot can't support his frame. If anyone's mad at Barkley, it's not because he had a couple of bad injuries (triceps, patellar tendon). Dream crawled to a halt with injuries around '97, but no one was hating on him over it.

No one's bitter because Tracy was hurt most of his time as a Rocket. He estranged himself from the fanbase with his bratty antics and a mouth that needed a zipper and masterlock.

I've said it over and over: had McGrady not played a game last year and took the season off to rehab, no one would be a fraction as upset with him as they were by the infamous microfracture announcement. I can't think of another NBA player that jerked his team around the way McGrady did last year.

    emjohn,

you are a real Rockets fan who knows Rockets history and Rockets facts.
Never in the history of the Rockets has a group of fans know nothing about the Rockets as those who are the fake Knicks fans here.

McGrady is not a stupid person or a loose cannon. He's actually pretty smart and calculating. Torpedoing the potential trades with his Stephen A Smith announcement right at the trade deadline to screw the Rockets was smart as well as spineless.

McGrady ticking off the fans is not like Dennis Rodman turning on the Spurs or Maxwell going AWOL after the Drexler trade.
Nobody was replacing Tracy at the 2 or not getting paid (Maxwell's case). Tracy is the highest paid Rocket ever.
Tracy wasn't mad at the city like Rodman was insulting all of San Antonio.

The thing about Tracy is that he had the talent, but he wasn't willing to share the spotlight and when the going gets tough, he wants to leave.

that's why he's never passed the first round.

Remember when Sam Cassell got traded from the TWolves (western conference finals) to the Clippers (suckage?). Sam took that as a challenge to himself to be the king of LA. He took all his teammates to dinner the first week and told everyone that they'd make some noise.

Give me Sam Cassell any day of the week. Give me Rockets or a Rocket at heart!
