If Bosh came here he'd be the new Franchise player for the Rockets...He'd have a longer deal than Yao and be younger, thus franchise player.

Last I checked, Yao is still on pace to be recovered by next season. And last I checked, Yao is better than Bosh. And last I checked, this team is built around Yao.

Bosh would still be given the keys to this team. He's younger and he'd also come here signing a huge max deal. That makes him the franchise player by default and I doubt Yao would complain about it as he just wants to win at this stage in his career.

Either way Bosh if he wants to win is going to have to tone that down unless he wants to be another Iverson. You don't win rings by yourself.

Also i'd like to add that there is a such thing as two franchise players. Bosh even hints at that when he says "Maybe someone should come here..."

This team will always be Yao's unless he's shipped out and that most likely will never happen.

If Morey can promise Ariza a larger role, surely he can promise Bosh the franchise superstar role ;)

Bosh sucked tonight. 6-20 for 15/5 and got blown out by the kings. What was also funny - before the game some kings fans screamed out if he will be coming to sacramento and he said Hell no! that was funny but i think hes overrated and thinks hes better than he is anyways

nope it doesn't have to be like that

the ideal situation would be with David Robinson and Tim Duncan. Robinson was a former POY and DPOY who ended busting his foot for basically the entire year.

the next year they got Duncan. and 2 rings

Yao is different from Lebron, Kobe and Wade in that Yao can be "the man" and still let someone else be the star. Yao doesn't need to take 25 shots a game or take the game winner. He doesn't constantly need the ball in his hands

If Bosh wants to be a star, Houston is the ideal situation. What he's looking for is recognition. Houston is the biggest team IN THE WORLD. with fans in China, South America, and all over the world.

lol look at all these ppl in denial. And here I thought this would finally end Bosh being mentioned in every single thread but nope. You can make justifications for any dream fantasy huh.

I don't think you guys understand when he says franchise player, even though he clearly defined as the team being built around him. Anyone being brought into the Rockets is there to augment Yao, he wouldn't be the one supporting Bosh.

It's all about the mindset of the organization, which you can't deny is get Yao a team that will compete in the playoffs. This attitude trickles down to the coach and the players. When you are the one brought onto his team, you are the support and he is the franchise player. And that's regardless of the way it works out in a distant future or even on the court for that matter.

Talent is part of the equation of defining a franchise player, naturally, but it's also about the aura surrounding the player. The only way a player coming onto a new team can become the franchise player is if the general consensus is that this guy's a bigger star than the one currently on the team. Chris Bosh isn't bigger than Yao Ming. There aren't many who are.

I swear if someone refutes me on that...man...you gotta be kidding me. If Yao Ming was healthy right now, I guarantee you it wouldn't even be a question.

No he wouldn't be given the keys to the team. The team would still be based around Yao on defense and a significant portion of the offense would be inside-out with Yao as the inside post option.

But Bosh wouldn't be "second fiddle" any more than Tmac was second fiddle. Adelman's system would allow Bosh to exert himself as well.

If Bosh wants to win he needs to leave Toronto, period.

The bad thing is that in truth he has a better chance with Lebron than with Yao. Yao simply doesn't get the calls, whereas $tern throws everything in the book at getting Lebron to the Finals

Am I the only who reads that and thinks this only INCREASES the odds of Bosh coming to Houston?

If Bosh is speaking truthfully, it automatically cuts down any Bosh/Wade, Bosh/Lebron, Bosh/JJ talk in NY and perhaps elsewhere. It certainly makes it unlikely that he goes to Chicago where people are anointing Rose as the next superstar. Dirk will always be #1 in Dallas.

Bosh in Houston would be the franchise player. Yao certainly doesn't have the big ego where he won't defer to Bosh. Kevin Martin isn't going overtake Bosh in the franchise player debate. Bosh can come to Houston and be considered the savior the same way KG was thought of in Boston. He immediately becomes the most talked about player on a team with a ton of talent.
