Outside of my home I found a cat wandering the neighborhood for the last two nights so I took it in today to bring it to the SPCA tomorrow. I fed the cat. Washed the cat. Gave the cat some water. And now I am sniffing the farts. This cat is farting literally ever 3 minutes, and the farts are HORRENDOUS. The cat looks at me as if this is normal. NAY I say to you this cat is farting at an abnormal rate and the smell is terrible. I have never taken care of a cat before so I am not sure if this is normal...are cats supposed to fart this much and with such a pungent odor? Please help me bc I may just release it tonight since this cat wont stop following me around rubbing its head on my leg, purring, and farting.
Trust me, I debated making a Friends reference. In fact, I regret it now. Someone put me down to Rookie, that crap was weak.
I took in a stray that would run up into your lap. Let out a silent super-stinky fart, and run away. You could tell you were about to get gassed if she jumped up and jumped right back down. She had worms from fleas, so we dewormed her, and fed her steady healthy diet, and after about three or so months the farting went away completely and hasn't returned.
So a Friends reference, what is next...Greys Anatomy? An update on the farting cat, I have locked her in the bathroom and now she wont quit crying...so I have two choices....endure the farts or be annoyed by the cries. I can see why this is animal was abandoned.
A sudden change in diet can do that. Particularly if you're feeding canned food. If so, go with dry food alone, and see if there's an improvement. And not the cheapest food you can find. Ideally, try a premium food like Orijen or Blue Buffalo. Ask your vet for suggestions, although many sell food themselves, so YMMV. The other likely cause would be worms, which is a good possibility with a stray.
Friends is a delightful comedy that all white people should cherish and enjoy. Don't be self loathing, embrace your roots.
