yep, possibly the most dangerous opponent yet. as long as Floyd sticks to his normal gameplan of boxing and not trying to get into exchanges, he should win rounds 4-12 pretty easy. Mosley will take the first 3 rounds though. Anyway, no way Clottey beats Pac. Best he will get is a close UD loss. He won't beat Pac at all. Only reason is because Clottey isn't offensive enough to really do any damage. He is a tough fighter, but he has no real offensive skill, and he focuses on defense too much to score.
Clottey has a whopping 1 knockout in his last 11 fights and it was a really premature stoppage. He's big, but he's not knocking Pac out. And he throws like 40 punches a round, so he's got no shot against a machine like the Pacman.
I;m really not that stoked by this fight. There were a lot more interesting fights that pac coulda took. I need to at least feel pac COULD lose. I'm boycotting all pac and mayweather fights till they fight each other.
there's a potential to be a classic fight as long as Shane is 100%, and not just fighting for the money.
Odds on most sports book are -800 Pacman and +500 for Clottey. Meaning if you put $800 for Pacman to win the fight you only win $100 because he is the huge favor.. Now if you put $100 on Clottey to win you will win $500 because he is the underdog.. For those that are curious of how vegas bettings goes.
The odds are so lopsided you have to put something on clottey. Buster douglas beat tyson and the giants beat the pats.
thanks for the clarification but that the odds are still insulting to the opponent. but of course, these are all speculation. when pacman fought dela hoya, the odds was teh complete opposite.
I'm in the dark here. Why didn't they fight each other? I remember there was SUPPOSED to be a match but didn't go through? What happened?
hmmn, tricky question. if you ask a floyd fan, they'll say pacman was scared. if you ask a pacman fan, they'll say floyd was scared. but the question to ask now is, historically, who really was the picky guy here...
maybe if Floyd would have fought Shane back when he was in his prime. It will be an interesting fight but far from a classic. I'd rather watch this then Pac vs Clottey, though regarding Money vs Pac There is too much money on table for this fight not to go down. Pac has said that he would test right after the fight. I don't see a problem with that and if Money really wanted this fight this would be acceptable...but his ducking He said he wanted to come back to boxing to fight the best and so far he's fought JMM a smaller guy and he didn't even care to meet the weight. Pacquiao is the lb for lb champ in many ppls list...so far Money hasn't stuck to his word. <object width="384" height="216" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="ESPN_VIDEO" data="http://espn.go.com/videohub/player/embed.swf" allowScriptAccess="always" allowNetworking="all"><param name="movie" value="http://espn.go.com/videohub/player/embed.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="wmode" value="opaque"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="allowNetworking" value="all"/><param name="flashVars" value="id=4963341"/></object>
This, this, and this. If Paquiao at least had a somewhat formidable to formidable opponent, I'd probably buy a PPV fight to watch it. Likewise with any future Mayweather fights that are against D-League like opponents, I won't be watching those either.
Anyone who is going to the fight needs to check out Omar Henry on the 12th. He is fighting at the Gaylord Hotel (where Manny is staying....thank me by supporting Omar). Good young fighter who has served as Danny's main sparring partner for his fight on the 27th. Check him out
I wonder if any bars around town will be showing this fight. I'm not paying $60 when I know Pac is going to destroy this chump in a few rounds.
