He retired a while back, but I heard reports he may sign a contract to backup Shaq.

I think he retired right before last season. I looke up his stats and saw no stats for last year, but some for 2000-01. I couldn't remember exactly when he retired so I looked it up. I didn't know much about him, but I'm learning more about him since he compares to Ming in some ways, especially the part with their home countries controlling when they would play. I read somewhere that if he had come to the NBA in his prime, he would have dominated.

That's right RC Cola. According to an article on sina.com.cn, Sabonis is negotiating with the Lakers and his old team the Blazers for another year or two. It seems that he's more inclined to the Lakers deal, with less money but a real chance at the ring. I won't be surprised to see him backing up Shaq, and I'd go further to say with the additions of Kareem Rush and Sabonis the Lakers are gonna win it all again this coming season.

Sabonis went back to Lithuania last year, There was talk around mid season of him playing for his old club side but it never came about.

If he'd gone to the NBA in his prime he would have been a major player by any standards. Great passing, shooting and shot blocking with more agility than he had when he finally made it.

He was a pretty decent center even when he was in the twilight of his carreer. I can only imagine what he was like in his prime.

Man that cat had no skills what do ever. Sabonis is the same guy who jacked up those weak jump shots against the Lakers. In his prime he probably was nice from what everyone says. But some on how can you prop him up for the way that he played here. The one thing that I will give him when he was here is that he had great fundamentals but otherwise he totally sucked.

    Sabonis was what Ming is...

Think about that for a minute....then dance around the room at your leisure.
