Kobe does what he does best....gets the job done. It shouldn't be a question who you want taking the last shot in a game if you had to choose between Kobe and LeBron.

Tell the Orlando Magic that. They walked off the court this weekend under the (mistaken?) impression that they had won the game after Kobe missed the potential game tying shot.

By the way, do we really need a new thread every time Kobe hits a game winner?

Well, he was about two inches away from nailing the game tying shot two possessions before that which would have changed the dynamic of the game severely. You hit a three pointer then the game is tied and you're forcing Vince Carter or one of those other jokers to perform in the clutch. You hit a two pointer and the Magic are shooting FT's. Luckily for the Magic his foot was on the line.

I'm no Kobe fan but to deny that the man is anything but lethal in the clutch is beyond foolish. I hate him but I haven't seen a player that's this feared with the game on the line since you-know-who. I hate that comparison as much as anybody but as far as that aspect goes it's spot-on.

hard to tell if the ball was out of his hands.

Edit: yea the ball wasn't out of his hands when he picked up his pivot foot

    Exactly what I was thinking.

BTW, in that original thread, durvasa has shown that Kobe wasn't even top 3 at game winning shots percentage-wise in the past 3 or 4 seasons. Yeah, he made a lot. But he also missed a lot. People just didn't make a new thread every time he missed.

A natio nal forest ranger holds he record for being hit up to 7 times on head by lightning. Look it up.

Oh btw screw Lebron, look at the rings, if you didn't AI would be the best player ever and T-mac would be inducted in the HOF for his scoring titles. Lebron holds some rediculous records anyways that dont account too much, most minutes a cav' has ever played, youngest to blank amount of points. He also got swepeed in the playoffs by a geriatric spurs team.

Fakers had a 3 game losing streak going. In those he couldn't close out.

much respect to Kobe's clutch shot, but the Lakers should be destroying teams like the raptors especially in a home game.

I thought acquiring Artest would decrease Kobe's mins/game, but it's been the opposite. I hope that bite them in the ass come playoff time ....

LMAO. Just stop it. You do know Lebron took his team to the Finals right? Do you even know who was on his team that went to the Finals? To paint a picture, for Kobe's first trip to the Finals, he had SHAQ. Lebron's first trip he had.......Larry Hughes? Big Z? LOL. Sure, they got beat by the Spurs. They suck right? All they did was beat the best teams in the West to get to the Finals.

Kobe or even Jordan did not come into the NBA as good as Lebron. Did I mention he's only 25? He has plenty of time to win rings. AI and TMac are no comparison to Lebron.

haha he did travel now that i look, he took that first step after pivot without dribbling the ball...refs been calling that a lot lately....

but i don't care what you say, the shots he makes at game time, people can see this is just this year...but he does this year in and year out..

i remember last season, two close games we had with lakers, kobe came back and hit crucial go-ahead jumpers in the last seconds of the games...in BOTH games...on top of that, after our game the next game i watched the following day, kobe hit another go-ahead jumper against i think the bulls...
the guy is pure insane at clutch...

its not luck, what it is, is the understanding that the game is on the line and not feeling pressured...keeping intense focus and having the will to win the game...
for example: i bet brooks' percentage of game winners attempted and made is far different that his regular stats...he's missed a lot of game winners (including free throws). its just a matter of focus and clutchness....
thats the whole concept of clutch...

That's the part that kills me. It was all quiet when this team just got smashed on by the Bobcats but all of a sudden Kobe does it again?

It must be nice to be naive

That's one of Kobe's pet moves. If you pay attention you will notice that the refs will never call it. Just one of the many reasons I hate that guy.

I watched the replay several times, and for me whether Kobe traveled is debatable. However, plenty of NBA players, stars or not, get away with more obvious transgressions on a regular basis. Besides, Kobe didn't gain much (if any) advantage with the questionable move, it's not like he was able to take two additional steps straight to the basket for the dunk (a la Lebron in the playoffs against the Wizards).

That just means you don't understand the traveling rules for this particular instance.

Of course there's an advantage. Changing pivot feet before dribbling allows the ballhandler to make his move quicker.

I never understand why fans on this board continue to debate whether something is a travel when the NBA lets players get away with travels a lot of times in every single game.

even with bosh and calderon back and as great as kobe has been this season in late game situation that lakers team is far too talented to be in a dogfight with a team like the raptors at home.

i think thats what is missing in a lot of these things some of these game winners are coming against teams that the lakers have no business in being a close game with.

    raptors
    heat
    bucks
    grizzlies
    sacramento
