Hey Mac Guys, I am a PC user but have a Mac question

    So my wife has a 1 year old imac and a new macbook. She needs to connect the two via fire wire to get all her stuff off the older pc onto the newer one. I know you can use fire wire to connect them, I am just not sure which cable to get.

    I will buy it from a cheaper site but here are my choices

    The specs on both machines say it is an 800 port. Do I get a 8 pin to 8 pin cable?

    Be sure the new macbook has fire wire.

    It's really simple to transfer your files to a new macbook. When you buy it it will ask you if you want to the first time you boot up.

    Firewire 800 was standard on the imac but I'm not sure if it is on the macbook. Mine only has 400

    Mac book has the 9 pin only, imac has both.

    Looks like you're good then. 9 pin is faster, newer form of 6 pin.
