I've entertained this thought before, but I'm not sure how well he would mesh with Yao's un-athleticism. Paul needs space in the lane to be able to create, which means athletic big men that can move around. Now if Yao comes back and gets hurt again next year, perhaps we give up on him and go after someone like Paul, but as long as Yao is in the picture I don't see it. Also, there is not a championship team in recent history that absolutely dominated the ball like Chris Paul does. A lot of champions have had very good PG's (Billups, Parker), but you probably have to go back to Isaiah to even compare. The NBA was a much different game back then, and it took a lot more than Isaiah for them to win.
That's what a PG is dude!!!!! They tend to have the ball a bit. Now making that statement about a player whose position is anything but point is a valid knock, i.e. TMac. He had to have th ball in his hands to be effective and often reulted in just being a ball-stopper. CP3 looks for the pass, and gets a bunch of dimes. He uses his shifty, speed changing ball handling qualityies to crawl all inside defenses and is very good at finishing or finding the open man. Totally disagree! He'd be an upgrade talent-wise over AB, but I'd be concerned with his injury-proneness.
gosh how many superstars can we go after??? bosh? lebron? cp3? morey sure has converted us into believers.
You'll never just get CP3, you want CP3 so bad, say hello to Okafor wth him or Peja. Oh yeah, and say goodbye not just to AB, but Scola and Battier as well since they are the only ones even close to a salary match. How about letting go of Bud or Jordan hill with them. If this is okay with you, then go for it, but unless NOLA just wants to get rid of him to get rid of him, or they are that stupid, it's not going to happen because we are not taking on Okafor's salary or Peja's.
CP3 is one of the few players I would trade Brooks to get in a heartbeat. One of the best players in the game, probably a top 5; better than Bosh, for certain.
CP3? heck yea, I would even do a KM for CP3 trade. I doubt NO would trade him, unless he asked to leave.
Our system needs ball movement and off-ball player movement. Not one player dribbling around until he finds an open shot, or passes to somebody else. He might not seem a ballhog by looking at his stats and the amounts of assists he dishes out... but he is.
Simple answer...No. Just to many reasons for New Orleans not to trade him to Houston. But it would be cool if they did. CP3 and Yao are friends.
Finally some sense in this thread! Houston would be one of the last teams NO would trade CP3 to. Now if it was San Antonio...
Very true. It's a pipe dream. We could probably get Collison, but I'm not sold on him being better than Brooks. Too small of a sample size.
If the Rockets have a chance for CP3 and lose Brooks, why not? CP3 this season has developed his mid range shot and now is even harder to guard. He is short but he is stocky, and he is a superstar. He will make Ariza look like a star and Kevin Martin even better. He know how to set up everyone and can play the Pick and roll so well.
I read a recent article about arthroscopic surgery on torn meniscus ligaments and how they're a quick fix designed to get the player back on the field/court in the shortest amount of time -- at a high cost. It seems they end up removing a part of the meniscus (the amount varies) and that leads to problems later when the player starts having trouble due to lack of cartilage. I don't know if that's enough reason to pass on a stud like CP3, but the last thing I want the Rox to do is gut the team for a superstar, only to run into recurring injury issues in a year or two.
Seems kinda silly to spend a ton of resources on a highly coveted player in a position we are already strong in (PG). Especially when there is an opportunity to spend less resources on a highly coveted player in a position we are weak in (PF).
We don't need to a new PG. We aren't going to go for that big name PG unless the offer is too good to resist.
