Where can I find the best deal on this phone: It's a Samsung A460...the original price for it is $149.99 but Best Buy has a rebate for $70...anyone know of a place I could find a better deal?
to provide an alternative viewpoint, the company got Sprint PCS phones and we haven't had an ounce of problems...except for having to replace one defective phone (the cheapest one)... I have heard bad things around, but have yet to experience anything bad so far..
btw...the boss just got one of those phones...I think they paid about 108 for it, one thing..watch the contracted amount of time for that price..if you get the phone cheaper...there is liable to have an extended contract term..
Cingular sucks, AT&T sucks, Verizon sucks, they all suck to some extent. I use Sprint and haven't had any problems that anyone else hasn't had with their service. Actually I am pretty happy with their phones and service.
phones suck. service sucks. i have the Samsung 8500, which drops calls after about 20 minutes and slowly loses service from the 15-20 minute mark Sprint has some of the worst service in Austin. Almost anywhere I go, I DON'T get service... downtown, Zilker Park, my FREAKIN' apartment... i hate that i flush $50 a month on their product... but since i gave this number out on my thousands of resumes floating around the nation, I have to continue to keep the phone number, and thus pay Sprint (as much as I loathe the idea!) as soon as i get a job, i am going to take a hammer to this phone!
I've had Sprint for 18 months - worked fine for 12 months, then it started dropping calls, and has now got so bad in some areas that it is not worth making a call. I called Sprint to complain, and after 2 months of arguing, they have given me an extra 150 anytime minutes and $100 towards a new phone. Hope that fixes it. Other than that, I am very happy with it, and happy that they are coming to the party to rectify it. However, I just saw Voicetream advertise 3000 anytime minutes for $50/month. Hard to beat that, especially if it includes roaming and long distance.
I can't say anything about the service - never had it. My mom did for a while, and told me it was bad. Others have said the same thing. I have Cingular, whose pricing sucks. But I pretty much always have good service and good quality on the connection.
I've had Sprint for almost a year, and I've had no trouble with it, including using it in such out-of-the-way places as Decatur, Texas, Arkadelphia, AR, and so on. Never tried to use it in Austin or Houston, though (haven't been to Austin or Houston since I got Sprint service).
I have had Sprint for two years. I travel a lot (admittedly to big cities) so I have enjoyed the flexibility of being able to receive calls when I am in Vegas, LA, Boston, Tampa, etc. Plus I can get calls in Cozumel when I go diving. Pretty cool. The only problem I have with Sprint is that it doesnt work well on Lake Conroe, TX or Lake Winnapesaukee, NH. Of course I have roaming turned off because I am a tightwad. Oh and sometimes it dies in my kitchen. Voicesteam has a lot of dead zones in Houston, including downtown. I fired them before I got Sprint.
Actually Verizon in Houson is the best. I've tried Nextel, Sprint, Voicestream and Verizon. The connection with Verizon is better then the other three combined.
My dad has had AT&T cellular service for probably 6 or 7 years now and I've used AT&T for a little over two years and I havn't had any major gripes with their service. Overall its a good deal. You wont get 23049823408230984208430328 minutes like you do with Sprint, but I think the service is better based on what I've heard friends say.
All cellular service sucks...but we have to have mobility, so we deal with it as a society. I have had SWB, Verizon, and Sprint, and I dropped calls at about the same rate with all of them.
Funny, my Sprint service kicks ass in Austin, including all of the populated areas you mentioned, plus outlying areas like Pace Bend. I've only been to one area(a 300 yard stretch on 290 at "The Y" in Oakhill) where I regularly drop calls.
I have worked in the industry and say the following: AT&T: Decent service but several dead zones in Houston. Cingular: My service of choice. In 8 months only 4 dropped calls. Sprint: Sucks. In the flood their master switch died...they repaired it but it was never the same. Voicestream: Has added a ton of tower sites recently. Should be a good service at a good value. Verizon: Good service, but wretched people to deal with.
I have Cingular and everything is going good so far. I even called Customer Services & they told me sites where I could find downloadable ringtones.
Cingular is great. There nation wide plans include free roaming anywhere in the US plus you can roam on to Voicestream(T-Mobile) for free. I love my Cingular plan: $32/mo 350 Anytime minutes 3500 N&W minutes Free Unlimited Text Messaging Free Basic WAP Free VM, CID, and some others Free Long Distance Free Nationwide Roaming. 1mb of GPRS data transfer
I've heard nothing but good things about Cingular. That is my target cellular service once I can get rid of Sprint.
