Wow...I bought one of the first redesigned Camry 07 SE models back in 2006. My VIN starts with 4T1 and I have a Denso accelerator pedal. I guess I'm not impacted by this recall and am in the clear. Weird how that works out. Is that right? The very early models are unaffected? Strange.
Exactly, I think Toyota grew too big in the past decade and that has had serious implications on their overall quality, especially with their fit and finish. Ironically, Lexus is only getting better with time, but maybe that is another reason as they try to distinguish between the two brands. I think Honda has it right, they have always been more focused on quality than pushing quantity and becoming the world's number 1 automaker, which has been an obsession of Toyota's for many years. Clearly, the car business is not all about volume as some of the most profitable brands are low-volume but have high profit margins. I remember reading a few years ago when that boxy Camry came out (2004 I think?) some car expert was mentioning a noticeable decline in interior quality with some of their recent products.
Not really, not a big Dodge fan althought the Hemispherical combustion chamber in their heads(Hence the term "Hemi") was/is a great design that's been adopted by lot's of other car makers.
I think I'm gonna rent "Gus", "Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" and "Million Dollar Duck" (Sandy Duncan with two working eyes, rawr!) after seeing that clip.
And called a private investigator to dig up dirt on you, or send hookers to your house (ask Ralph Nader).
well, at least yota has more experience in recalls than any american 'pos' company. or really any auto manufacturer on the planet. good job yota.
I don't understand this kind of sentence. Since it doesn't mention anything about being under the influence, I understand why you would sentence someone to prison for this. Even if it was a case of bad driving, do we really send someone to prison for being a bad driver? Revoke their license if you think it was him and not the car.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/6903950.html Crazy story. I couldn't imagine how pissed off I would be. Being turned away from a dealership with your recall notice in hand, then having this happen after. just...insane. Lucky no one was killed.
I hear once it hits a certain RPM u cant put it neutral i would just shut the engine off and pull of to the side
The problem with that is not all people can act and think rationally when a crisis hits. It is quite odd that these people involved can call 9/11 on a cell phone discussing their situation and, yet, they can't switch to neutral or try to turn the key off. It's like "what do I do? call 9/11!" seems to be the first instinct. But, someone in a panic...my belief is all bets are off. It comes down to the individual and how they handle themselves in an emergency. In this latest incident in the Chronicle with the Prius...this person can't stop the car by pressing the brake pedal but slows the car down to 50 by pressing the brake pedal and using the emergency break. Yet, this person doesn't try to turn the car off and/or switch to neutral? How can you explain that other than the person was in a panic, trying not hit other cars, and the obvious eluded the person?
