Great point. I forgot to mention that. On a more general note, I frankly have no idea how it's going to work come July 1, 2011. I assume that will be the commencement of the inevitable lockout. But what may be even MORE frustrating for NBA fans will be what happens immediately AFTER a settlement is reached and a new CBA is signed by the owners and the players. It may be a mad dash, as teams try to quickly made an offseason's worth of moves in a matter of days. It may be that the NBA season won't begin until several weeks after a new CBA is reached, which will make matters all the more aggravating for those NBA fans jonesing to watch a regular season game.
Durant wants to sign an extension for max contract immediatly because the new CBA will lower the max contract price. I dont think he will leave OKC in this 3 years but I don't think his willingness to sign an extension means he really wants to stay there, it's all about money.
We should go after the one that got away....Rudy Gay. Then everyone can rock a Gay jersey. NYF But yeah, KD is the franchise in OK.
BimaThug, this oversight is unforgiveable! But seriously, thanks again for helping Rockets fans be some of the most knowledgeable in sports. Thanks to you and others on ClutchFans, my friends and coworkers come to me for all things Rockets.
Did you watch him in college hoops????? He completely dominated everyone. He averaged 26/11 with 2 blocks and 2 steals a game. Those numbers are unheard of in college basketball. Was there someone that you did think was all that in college hoops?
By your definition, Sam Presti will be "nuts" this summer when they ink KD for $80MM. I'm "nuts" too because I agree they should.
I agree. What did Durant do in college? Nothing much. Apart from, of course, winning nearly every individual award that year... NABC Division I Player of the Year (first freshman ever to win it) Oscar Robertson Trophy (first freshman) Adolph Rupp Trophy (first freshman) Naismith Player of the Year (first freshman) AP National Player of the Year (first freshman) AP All-America 1st Team (unanimous) John R. Wooden Award ESPN All-American ESPN Player of the Year Espy Award College Athlete of the Year Had he played all 4 years without injury, he would have been within spitting distance of Pete Maravich's all-time Div I record for points scored. Apart from that stuff, though, he was pretty much a bust at the college level.
KD isn't leaving OKC, he is their franchise and they'll do anything to keep him happy. Gimme a break with that "Morey can make it happen!" stuff...I don't know why, but I find fantasizing about the dream signings annoying. I know it's fun to dream and all, but c'mon man....we're not getting KD, we're not getting Bosh, we're not getting KD, we're not getting Amare.
Well with Lebron coming here in next year and Durant the year after that, we oughta be in some SERIOUS title contention.
How in the world could anybody watch Kevin Durant in College and come to the conclusion that he wasn't "all that" in College. He is the best freshman I have ever watched. Him and Michael Beasley was a joy to watch in College as freshman. I'm not even a Texas fan.
Couldn't agree more. From about game 12 onward, I realized KD was special and I watched every UT game that was on TV. For Beasley it was pretty much the same except that year it seemed like about 20 of his K-State games were on local Houston television. Even some of the obscure mid-week conference games. I still watch nearly every Thunder game of the season specifically because of Durant.
