Something I have been very curious about for a while; now with Artest and T-Mac gone. Do we have the smartest and classiest group of guys in the league? Not saying Artest and T-Mac are dumb; but listening to their comments and interviews they just seem a bit elementary at times. The guys now on our team with management (wish I can include Landry and newly acquired Martin) are very classy, and thoughtfully articulate in their comments towards the media and fans. To me, it has been very easy to support the current Rockets organization regardless of wins or losses. Morey over the past few years definitely targetted players with a lot more than just physical attributes. Which leads me to think the Rockets as an organization is actually building around his persona more so than any particular player. Interview might actually include a Calculus test. My friends and I are always joking: "Morey probably realized to beat other teams, you need to beat them with your brains and mask your plays no spoken in basketball lingo. Prime example: Artest and T-Mac did not fit in the game plan was because the rest of the guys were formulating plays with Calculus. When the two of them heard the Pythagorean play, they didn't know what to do, so they jacked up ill-advised 3s."
BS. T-mac got run because he was a douchebag and an expiring contract Artest wouldn't sign a 1 year $8 million deal and he was 30 years old.
Artest is pretty smart on the court. You don't get under the skin of your opponent and draw those fouls by being dumb. And dumb people don't have the presence of mind to take a shoe of the opposing player and casually toss it off the court to give your team a 5-4 advantage at the other end.
The Kings seem like a bunch of fun and nice guys. JT, Donte, Tyreke, Casspi, Hawes and now Landry are all guys that are very cool. Now intelligent? Idk
It might be fun to knock T-Mac and Artest, but they didn help this team win, when they were able to. If we had T-Mac pre micro-fracture and Artest, I'm sure we wouldn't be sitting at 30 wins, outside of the playoffs right now.
Evans comes across as a ball hog from the games I've watched, actually. Casspi as well to a lesser degree.
The fact is T-Mac has already gone through his micro-fracture. So far he doesn't seem like half the player he once was. So even if he were on the team now, it'll get us nowhere. Artest, I don't believe fits in well with our current team. Even with him on our team at this current moment, we might only benefit with 2 - 3 more wins. Outside of that I don't seem him any different than an older, slower Ariza.
Guys I consider to be smart players on the Rockets, in no particular order. Battier Brooks Budinger Scola Lowry Martin Hayes DD
would you sign a one year contract if you were 30 and on your way down? the rockets COULDN'T sign him another year, without yao we weren't a good enough team and it would have been a waste of his time and our money. as for tmac, my opinion is now this: morey was right to sit tmac, he clearly isn't helping his team in ny, but then again neither is anyone else besides lee, so play away mac. he needs to work out big time this summer, run run run, cause he looks slow slow slow
You forgot Ariza, I think Ariza is a smart player considering all the 3's he takes and makes. Maybe I'm biased though, I love him as much as I love you, DaDa. /MaMa
I don't know how Hawes gets thrown in the mix. Sounds like he tries to talk gangsta in interviews, and I met him once at a party here last year and he definitely tried to act waaaay too cool. Also, he said that Yao, Scola, and Landry all SUCK! And Landry is way better than him, and now they're teammates!
