I am not a not a Tim Burton fan and can't really think of anything that he's done that I liked. I couldn't stand his Willie Wonka remake and I didn't "get" Edward Scissorhands. I'm sure I've seen at least one or two more of his films but can't even remember. Having said that I am looking forward to Alice. This kind of story sounds right up Burton's alley and from what I understand this is more of a re-imaging of the story than the actual story. There was talk a few years ago about a video game called Alice by American McGee that was going to be made into a move and Sarah Michelle Geller was rumored to be attached. I thought that game was pretty cool and was looking forward to that. I think this Burton's movie, while not a video game adaption, will be as close as I get.
Has anyone here watched this movie already? Don't get a lot of information on movies of late and have no clue when this has already hit theaters. Is this one worth watching in theater or just be patient and wait for its dvd and bluray releases? BTW, the song by Avril for this movie sucks as hell.
Yeah, I'm surprised by the Tim Burton hate. Willy Wonka and Planet of the Apes were absolutely terrible, but every other movie the guy has made has been either visionary, brilliant, entertaining, or some combination of all of these. That being said, I'm not really looking forward to this one.
I liked Sweeney Todd, and enjoyed his Batman. I like Mars Attacks the first time around, but other then that, I'm not a big Burton fan. I do want to see 9 though.
Edward Scissorhands - Yes Sweeney Todd - No Nightmare Before Christmas -- so/so Big Fish - not seen Ed Wood - not seen Sleepy Hollow - it was ok Rocket River
calling someone closed minded is an insult. Fact. Someone saying they dislike animation movies and don't pay money to see them is not idiotic at all.
After watching this on 3D... I've realized how much I dislike Tim Burton movies. I don't like dark themed films apparently. This movie reminded me of one of those weird nightmares I had as a kid with psycho creatures and a big head lady. I think Tim Burton would make a helluva serial killer. The guy has a flat out dark mind.
This is what sprang to mind when I saw the trailers for this movie. I would have been much more interested in an American McGee version. I'll probably pass on this one.
So someone who has different tastes than you is "idiotic"? It is completely reasonable for an individual to say "I don't like X, therefore I won't watch it.".
That is not what the OP said. He said he plans on NEVER seeing it, because there was some animation in it. He was talking about Avatar as well. That is not closed minded? Not reasonable at all IMO... I hate all films that have a character named Joe, so I will probably never watch Joe Dirt... THAT IS JUST MY TASTE! I HATE JOES IN MY FILMS!!!
