I hear the beginning starts out slow but it is totally worth it once you get past the first hour or two.
Huge PSN issue going down right now for all "fat" PS3's Copy and pasted from another board Spoiler Everyone READ THIS PLEASE. Here's what's going on right now: something with the PS3's internal clock has borked in some pre-slim models. This is not a PSN issue; it has to do with your PS3's clock. This clock is NOT related to the OS clock. It seems to be a leap year bug. Setting your clock ahead will do nothing. All PS3s around the world were affected at the exact same time. Does this affect me? -If you have a Slim PS3, you're good to go. Continue playing it as normal. -If you have a "fat" PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged. What does this bug mean? -If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync. How do I fix it? -You can't. Even if you don't sign into PSN, it won't help. This is a hardware issue. So, what do I do? -Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe. -If that doesn't work, we'll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now. Did I lose my data/themes/etc? Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They'll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they'll be fine if you've synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now. If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it? It's probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine. So there ya go, my handy FAQ. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=388872
so far i beat the game 3 times....just starting from the last chapter...and 3 diffrent endings ...just hate you have to sit through the wholllllllllllllllllle credits each time
Gonna have to pick this up at some point, I'm slow playing through games, still trying to finish up Bayonetta and then start Dante's Inferno
My first playthrough took about 10 hours. Pros: - The story completely drags you in. You will keep guessing who the killer is and believe me you will be suprised. - The things you do in this game are so different from other games. You will be doing simple everyday stuff, instead of swinging swords and shooting guns. - The presentation is excellent. The characters, the settings, the music, and the dialogs create a very chilling and moving atomsphere. - Lots of different endings depending on the different choices you make through the game. Cons: - Freeze issue. My PS3 froze at least twice during the first playthrough; and sometimes the game will stuck and you will need to reload before you can continue. (I believe this will be fixed in future patches though) - Contol issue. Walking in this game can be a pain, sometimes it's hard to get your character facing the direction you want; also occasionally you need to hold down quite a few buttons at the same time, which can be awkward. Heavy Rain is pretty much an interactive thriller movie.
Played it through a couple times. Good game. Could have been longer but I enjoyed it none the less. I didn't have any of the freezing problems KingLeoric had. Sometimes the load screen between scenes takes so long you think it's frozen though. Luckily this didn't happen often. Anyone in NW Houston want to buy my copy for $40? If not I'll be trading it in next month for Red Dead Redemption.
Started playing it for 3-4 hours last night. Not bad, not bad, but I'm often paranoid about the decisions I make, and sometimes don't even have enough time to be paranoid about it. Spoiler One example would be the scene with the guy that had all the crucifixes in his apartment. I'm trying to be a good father with Ethan and a good FBI agent with the other guy (forget his name). I try to stop the cop from beating up the looney guy. But then the looney guy pulls out a gun. I reason with him. I get him to put his gun down. Great! I win! And then he pulls something out and an R1 trigger appears. Instinctively, I fired. He was pulling out a crucifix, and I shot him in the head. So much for being a good FBI agent. Stuff like that gives it replay value though. I have to finish Heavy Rain by Tuesday (Final Fantasy XIII day), so I may not be able to replay it soon, but I probably will down the line (after FF13 and GoW 3, of course).
Yeah, I got this in the park with Shaun. We were leaving, he went to go get his bag, and froze. I could still run around, but I couldn't do anything. Fortunately, the game had saved moments before that, so reloading and getting back to that point took 30 seconds.
I'd trade it in now if I were you. Gamestop is offering 50% extra on all trades and if you have a discount card you'll get 60%. Likely get back more than 40 bucks toward RDR. Also RDR got pushed back to May.
Yea I froze once when Jayden got to the club. Anyways finished the game. Great experience overall. But I think I might try to trade it in and get some money for GOW3 lol.
The only freeze I had was when I tried to leave the crime scene. I had to do a hard reboot on my PS3 and the second time around everything was fine.
Got my PS3 yesterday and rented Heavy Rain. I've played it about 3 or 4 hours, and so far it's pretty amazing. In terms of production value, it's unrivaled in my opinion. They should make a survival horror game with this type of gameplay style, and level of production value. Silent Hill seems perfect for it, although I wouldn't mind a completely new franchise.
Finished Heavy Rain a couple of hours ago. Wow. As I said in my initial reactions, the production value is incredible. There are some negatives (frustrating controls, overused music, bad voice acting here and there) but all in all, it's one hell of a beautiful game. Gotta give it a solid 9 out of 10. and for those who have beat it... Spoiler Assuming you kept Madison alive, do you think the mystery fan at her book signing guarantees a sequel is in the works? That's what I'm hoping.
Spoiler I didn't get this Madison writing a book ending. Madison and Ethan bought an apartment together in my ending. There is the Taxidermist DLC coming however.
Finally getting around to Heavy Rain. Didn't get to play too much tonight (just finished up the first few chapters with the dad). Loving it so far...and apparently this part of the game is a little slow.
